Mount Tamalpais

Mt Tam

up and upper,

infinite defying finite

all the way skyward,

stumbling heavenward

ascending in straight lines,

light delicious mountain-field of colossal pregnant trees

birthing myriad shades of reds, browns, greens,

soon to be watercolored forever by timeless Bay tides,

saltwater slamming through this palisade of

the goddesses' and gods' jewels

and cascading below

all trails lapse,

echoing into summertime wet north California breezes

then emerge out of nowhere

from these wild freely inspired centuries

to emerge from these wide open songs of this great country

sung by redheaded mamas

chasing their wooden ship dreams underneath this enchanted terrain,

this soft parade landing

without pretense,

without pause

this legendary masterpiece,

a song sung wordlessly

(satta…satta),

a dull knife

slicing melting butter

begetting the holder,

home of skipping sacred rams

bounding uphill in one whole motion,

this cosmic mount

this singular jump

this uplifting West!
