great colosseum

great coliseum

once inside the road

leading to the great coliseum

where we met

exchanging the time

people wish they could live

without alternatives

beyond in-betweens

so honestly

so effortlessly

we learned leaves must turn brown

to understand green and rebirth,

and we played right along

with the season’s harmony,

our fingertips moving

across each other’s foreheads-

full of headaches and wire-ends,

trusting one day our hair would grow

long down past our shoes

and each possession

lost the meaning of property,

as for sharing filter cigarettes,

and easily we won the treasure map to the golden,

and after we sat for a long time

before we were sure

we wanted something new and real,

another revelation emerged

and we took each other's word

so afterwards

when you flew away

trading our music for some passion,

I ran off to find a piano to confess to,

but if we wish to change this world

again one day,

first we had better

journey back

and climb inside the road

leading to the great coliseum
