a smile to the ebb tide

smile to the ebb tide

diamonds in sea-torn waves

prisms sparkling in sunlight,

creamed foam melting along the wet white sand

surrounding the beach,

so grey-blue this bus

carrying shells and oceanweeds for a ride

waves jumping high and higher,

build, fall, and rebuild-

gather, collect, unite-

integrating into one

white, blue-billed birds swoop

gathering what they were created for,

horseflies bite intruders

confusing their game,

while the unconcerned

endless white sand,

witnesses this spectacle

and the ocean’s partner, the wind,

relentlessly inspires,

its rekindled air

tossing out monumental shadowy pictures,

enduring,

now unforgettable
