Day of The Panthers

privileged chairs

surround empty tables

where the brothers

will divide and share food,

where air brushed “seize the time!” signs

blaze and pulsate,

before they can be translated,

before the paint dries

and waves of hard bop notes

follow fortresses of blaring trumpets

wailing saxophones

erupting into rivers of the assembled,

until all the bullshit outside these walls

gets wiped clean

and flushed away,

forever
