independant project

For this assignment we were allowed to choose to redo any assignment we have done in the past year (during class). I choose to redo a combo of the mixed media and surrealist collage. The painting is suppose to be a girl on a rop swing, with the swing coming out of the mans nose. The background is off "monsters" I choose to do this because the idea seemed very unique and it looked like it might challenge my artist abilities. Also the idea was created in mind to represent my pariona. I am a person who is always scanning rooms and am worried that something is about to happen, and that is what this image represents.

I am not happy with the way that my piece turned out, whatsoever. Everything that could go wrong did. I couldn't get the right demise/portions for the lady. her face is not how i wanted it to look. Her dress just doesn't match, and turned out terrible. I also had trouble with the media i chose to work with. I used charcoal and ink. If I were to do this again i would use acrylic paint so all the different contrast pops out more. Even though it was water colored paint it still bled through the paper and made adding more layers impossible. I didn't have as many complications with the mans face but im still not pleased with it. If i had to redo this piece i would scratch the whole idea and do something else completely. I strongly dislike my peice and am very disappointed i'm my lack of skill improvement.
