Coils/ Historical Pots
For the formative, I made a simple pot that I indented with craters. I filled in each crater with different underglaze colors and used a light PC purple glaze. For my historical pot, I was inspired by Pompeii pots. their pots tended to have rounded or pointed bottoms and were larger. I made mine smaller to fit in the kiln and a flat bottom so it could sit. To make it more modern I craved out a scene of mt. Vesuvius, the city, and the harbor. Then i painted over it with underglazes and added a clear coat. I would have liked to improve the symmetry, as it is a little uneven/wobbly looking. the handles also stick out more than the Pompeii pots which have a smaller right-angle cut. my favorite part of this piece the painting especially the marks on the mountains.
