Inclusion

My piece is made mainly with color pencils, but also highlighter, sharpie, pen, and ink. The image reads "Everyone is different and unique, but together we're a masterpiece". The pictures are of a bunch of people drawn in different styles, abstract, cubism, pointillism, cartoon, etc. All different styles of art but each type is famous despite being different. I wanted this message to translate to people, whether they're a little weird, have a disability, or just like pineapple on their pizza, we are all equal and amazing in our way. this piece took an unexpected amount of time, as the varnishing on watercolor paper made me have to sharpen my pencils every two seconds. For the background, I decided to go with a simple blue ink wash. I think my cup of water had something left that made the ink mix into a glandular substance. Wasn't the look I was aiming for, but to add to the spotty texture I blotted my paper with a paper towel lifting some more color. The wording was the hardest part as I couldn't decide how to phrase it in a non-cheesy way.
