Sticking with my duck stamp theme for the third year, I went with the Common Merganser. I used colored pencils and a dash of watercolor on bristol paper. I spent over 8 tedious hours on this piece, creating a strong hatred for it. I started off adding to much detail and shading in something as simple as a tree. Because of this, I had to attempt to add the same level of detail everywhere else. This, however, might not have been a big issue if our deadline wasn't in a week. I was tempted by the idea of cutting out the babies but then the composition would be wonky. I do like the layout and subjects of the piece and the parts that are nicely colored. I plan on revising the piece and adding to the background.
