I'm Not Ready
Made with colored pencils, watercolor, and pen. This is a piece of an elderly woman who has just passed away and is at the gates of heaven. Instead of being happy she made it to heaven or that she can have peace she is instead upset. She is upset because she wasn't ready to die, leave her husband and family. Normal I focus on how many people find peace with death but for this piece, I decided to represent the few who still have something to live for. My favorite part about this is the woman and how I choose to place color pencil over the watercolor to add more detail to her skin and hair. The thing I dislike is the clouds in the background. They started off strong with the watercolor and I planned to only use watercolor for them but then i oversaturated them. The clouds were no longer muted and stood out. I thought adding the lines with a pencil would make it better but now its just colorful brains in the back.
