Honors Art

Written Reflection:

I decided I wanted to do/try the honors art option after my parents went there first teacher-parent conference. That's when my teacher told then about the opportunity. I was excited to do this project, I was only worried that my grade would drop below an 85 (thankfully that didn't happen) or that I would not have time to complete it all. A few weeks from my deadline, I was beginning to panic as I still had most of my prompts left to do, nor had I started the final piece. Once I pulled myself together I was looking pretty solid. I did, however, end up doing a few prompts last minute.

The time I put into my sketchbook was painful. I worked on it every day, usually doing 2 or more sketches a day. Granted I never stop drawing, I have doodles on all pages I have ever made contact with and I always have doodles on my arms or hands. The problem was getting myself to sketch in the notebook. Another problem I faced was keeping it away from my friends, my friends love to see my artwork. So it was no surprise to me when they literally took it from me whenever I had it out. Most of them were innocent, but I had a few who continuously thought it would be funny to doodle in it or draw male genitals on blank pages. This made most of my art coverups because the pen was their favorite choice of writing utensil.

Making the book was a lot of fun, especially because I knew it had a purpose. Since my normal art class had rubrics and whatnot, I never really showed my normal style of art, it was just always what we were told to do. When you go through my sketchbook you see numerous drawing of theses creepy creatures. One or two of them show up multiple times. The one I drew the most I named him. He was a character I created in the beginning of the year, he inspired a lot of my other drawings.
