For Now We Have Each Other

When creating this I used graphite, pen, and wallpaper. The drawing is of two elderly people holding each other. The message is around how after years of marriage you grow dependant on your significant other, as everyone else leaves they are the only ones that stay. the title "For Now We Have Each Other" is referring to them being together till one dies. I wanted the viewer to see the deep connection that they shared and how when death comes the other will probably experience broken heart syndrome. Broken heart syndrome is when someone experiences strong emotions or stressful situations that cause cardiac arrest, this is very common upon close couples especially in older age as their bodies are weaker. I choose to cut out the couple and paste them onto wallpaper to make a connection between my materials and inquiry question. It was strange making this because I don't usually us graphite because it's very simple regarding color and contrast. However, I did enjoy shading and how fast it took to color. One thing I would have liked to improve would be the old man's hand as the fingers are a little wonky.
