This picture is of a woman dressed in blue with wild and decorative hair. She stands in the middle of a flowery field with a mountain in the background. she’s pondering with her eyes closed and hided behind the bird cage veil. She was created with watercolor pencils, normal watercolor paint, a sharpie and a pencil. I was inspired to create her by the way my beginning lines looked. The beginning lines were created by m drawing both my hands and my face without looking at the paper. When i was done with this step i exsaminned my paper. I began to notice a face. I set to work creating her face, however their was a big clump of squiggles by her left eye. I could only imagine that as a birdcage veil, which were created in the 1940’s. I tried to work with that time frame, the results don't show through as well as hoped. I intended on making her background a 1940s town, but she just didn't match, so instead i turned the other lines into a mountain in a field of pink flowers.
I used high key lighting in the woman's colors to make her pop out from the low key lighted background. There is also sharp lines highlighting her hair, face and the mountain, those are created by the sharpie lines. The background started white and i wanted to leave it white so badly, because i was afraid i would mess it up somehow. After i managed to get myself to draw the first line the mountain slowy began to lead to an unplanned field of flowers.
The point or meaning of this picture is that you don't have to be going somewhere fancy to dress up. You’re not stuck in a “birdcage” so why should we act like it. Just like the lady in the picture, who is just dressed up and was randomly in a field because she could. This picture relates to me because I love to dress up even if i’m just going to school or out to run errands. The main improvement that i would make to my picture would revise the background. I don't think it is strong enough in color to compete with the woman. It just really match her in my eyes.
