Donate Life

Computer colored image

Original pen outline

This is an image of an older man have an emotional talk with a younger boy on a park bench while his wife's spirit is in the trees pleasantly watching. The text says "Don't let Death due you part, be there for them with organ and tissue donation" The idea is that the boy has received one of her organs and her husband is reaching out to all the recipients of her organs like most people do when a loved one passes and donates their organs. I said "don't let death due you part" because in most wedding vows they say "till death do us part", however, if they are to donate they will continue to live through others. Organ donation has the power to give people closer especially if the death is sudden or unexpected. being able to meet the people they help reassure the person didn't die for nothing and that because of them many people will continue to live. When making this piece I choose to do something different, I made the outline in pen, then scanned and colored it in on the computer. I had never done that before so it was strange seeing such solid, saturated colors. I wanted to try the computer for a few reasons, one I wanted to try something new and most posters are done digitally so why not give it a go. Also, we only had a week to Finish, so I wouldn't have time to properly color it in so doing it digitally made the color quilty better and overall process go by faster. If I were to change something I would want to work on making the text more legible. I want to make the letters bold and white with a black outline, but I couldn't figure out how to do that, so I settled for that weird font. I used the wrong due/do in the phrase saying due instead of do, but this was done to symbolize the "due " date of death and how it is inevitable.
