Year 9 Mathematics Standard 

TERM 4, 2026

Students will begin Term 4 by continuing with Topic 10 – Non-Linear Relationships A. Students will look at the connection between algebraic and graphical representations of quadratics and exponentials. This will include identifying graphs and equations of parabolas and exponential curves as well as recognising quadratics and exponentials in real-life contexts.

Next, in Topic 11 – Probability A and B, students will describe multistage chance experiments involving independent and dependent events, then solve problems for multistage chance experiments. Next, students will design and use simulations to model and examine situations involving probability, and solve problems involving Venn diagrams and 2-way tables. Finally, they will describe mutually and non-mutually exclusive events using specific language and calculate related probabilities.

During Term 4, students will complete Task 4 – Yearly Examination, which contributes to 40% of the students’ overall assessment for the year.
