Year 9 Mathematics Standard
TERM 2, 2026
Students will begin Term 2 with Topic 4 – Data Analysis A; students will explore data variation by calculating standard deviation and interquartile ranges, while gaining practical skills in constructing and comparing parallel box plots to identify symmetry and skewness.
In Topic 5 – Numbers of any Magnitude, students will explore data variation by calculating standard deviation and interquartile ranges, while gaining practical skills in constructing and comparing parallel box plots to identify symmetry and skewness.
In Topic 6 – Equations A, students will tackle complex linear equations involving multiple steps, algebraic fractions, and grouping symbols, applying these techniques to solve real-world word problems and formula substitutions.
Lastly, in Topic 7 – Financial Mathematics A, students will develop essential life skills by solving problems related to earnings and taxation, utilising simple interest formulas and published tax tables to evaluate the costs of spending and buying on terms.
During Term 2, students will complete Task 2 which contributes to 20% of the overall Semester 1 Report mark, and 20% of the students’ overall assessment for the year.
