Term 2-3 Unit 2 - The Artist and Their World, a Challenging World
Our Goal this Term is to:
Develop an understanding of how artists use their world as a source of inspiration for artworks. Develop knowledge and skills, informed by their understanding of practice, the Frames and Conceptual Framework, to create new artworks in 3D and 4D forms. Students gain increasing intellectual autonomy in their abilities to aesthetically and persuasively represent ideas in the visual arts and to understand and value how the field is subject to different interpretations.
We will achieve this by:
Part 1
Exploring the conventions of practice in art making by creating experiments in sculptural, installation, 3D form, photography and filming.
Investigating how artists use their environment to represent their ideas in a variety of ways.
Recognising what can be revealed about the artist, their world and audience through their artworks.
Investigating ways of developing coherence and layers of meaning in their art making.
Exploring a range of material techniques in ways that support artistic intention.
Part 2
Exploring the conventions of practice in art making, in particular in 3D and 4D (Film/Video) forms.
Investigating how artists communicate ideas about their world in varying ways.
Recognising what can be revealed about the artist, their world and audience through their artworks.
Investigating ways of developing coherence and layers of meaning in their art making.
Exploring a range of artmaking techniques that best reflect their strengths, in film and editing techniques or in 3 3-dimensional sculptural forms to support artistic intention.
