Rationale: The aim of this topic is to develop students’ understanding of the influence of interpretations of the past and the  necessity for revisionist theories using archaeological evidence and a review of the written sources. Spartan Society to the Battle of Leuctra is a Historical Societies HSC topic which uses ancient archaeological and written evidence; as well as past and current historiography to analyse and understand the key developments in the culture, constitution and history of Spartan Society.
