Topic 1: Apartheid in South Africa 1960-1994

Rationale:  The purpose of this topic is for students to develop an understanding Apartheid between 1960 and 1994. During this unit, students will consider the nature of the apartheid system, national resistance and the end of apartheid. Students will also explore the methods of repression and control used by the South African governments. This unit is highly relevant in contextualising South Africa’s political, social and economic situation today.
