Year 10 Mathematics Core

TERM 4, 2026

We will begin Term 4 with Topic 11 – Volume B. Students will find the volume of right pyramids, cones

and spheres. They will then find the volume of composite solids, including right pyramids, right cones and hemispheres. Students will complete the topic by solving problems involving volume and capacity of right pyramids, right cones and spheres.

Finally in Topic 12 – Properties of Geometrical Figures A, students will identify and describe the properties of similar figures and solve problems using ratio and scale factors in similar figures. Finding unknown sides in similar polygons using scale factor or proportion will also be looked at. Students will also need to interpret scales on maps, photographs, plans or drawings and apply this to solve problems involving scale drawings.

During Term 4, students will complete Task  - Yearly Examination which contributes to 40% of the students’ overall assessment for the year.
