Year 10 Mathematics Core
TERM 4, 2025
Students will begin the term with Properties of Geometrical Figures. Students will investigate similar figures and how scale factors can be determined. Finding unknown sides will enable students to solve problems involving scale drawings. Combining these skills will enable students to solve real life problems.
Next topic will be Volume. Students will build on their knowledge of area by investigating volumes of prisms. Formulas for volume of other solids such as spheres, cones, and pyramids will be given. Students will then use these formulas to solve problems involving volume and the relationship to Capacity.
Finally, students will begin our last topic Introduction to Networks. They will use specific terminology to identify a vertex, edge and degree, before investigating types of networks, such as trail, circuit, path and cycle. Planar and non-planar graphs will be looked at, including the application of Euler's formula.
During Term 4, students will complete Task 4 which contributes 40% of the student's overall assessment for the year.
Students will also complete their 2nd RoSA test which will contribute to 50% of their external grade.
