Year 10 Mathematics Core

TERM 2, 2026

Students will begin Term 2 with Topic 5 – Trigonometry B (bearings), students will apply trigonometric ratios to navigate practical problems involving angles of elevation and depression, while mastering the conversion between true and compass bearings.

In Topic 6 – Data Analysis B, students will use scatter plots to analyse the association between variables—recognising that correlation does not equal causation—and use lines of best fit for interpolation and extrapolation.

Lastly, in Topic 7 – Financial B, students will establish and apply formulas for compound interest and depreciation, developing an understanding of repeated percentage changes over time to solve complex financial scenarios.

During Term 2, students will complete Task 2 which contributes to 20% of the overall Semester 1 Report mark, and 20% of the students’ overall assessment for the year. In addition to this, students will complete their first RoSA task which weighs 50% of their RoSA Grade.
