Year 12 MATHEMATICS EXTENSION 1 2026
Starting Term 4 (2025) and ending 2026, students will complete the HSC Mathematics Extension 1
and Mathematics Advanced courses.
It is a NESA requirement for students studying these courses to complete assessment Tasks 1 to 4 for BOTH the
Mathematics Advanced and Mathematics Extension 1 courses.
TERM 2
Students will begin Term 2 with:
Advanced: The anti-derivative, Areas and the definite integral, Continuous random variables, The normal distribution, Arithmetic sequences and series, Geometric sequences and series, Modelling investment and loans
Extension: Further calculus skills, Further area and volumes of solids of revolutions, Differential equations, Bernoulli and binomial distributions, Normal approximation for the sample proportion, Projectiles and an application of vectors
During Term 2, students will complete HSC Task 3 Past Paper Assessment for the Mathematics Extension 1 course, which contributes to 20% of overall assessment for each course.
