Year 11 Mathematics Extension
TERM 2, 2026
Students will begin Term 2 with Further Functions followed by Graphical Transformations, Graphical Relationships, and Inverse Functions, where students will master function notation and algebraic manipulations to identify patterns and model real-life situations. These units enable students to analyse complex data and predict outcomes.
In Introduction to Differentiation, introduces the fundamental concept of differential calculus, where students use "gradient as a rate of change" to find rates of change for non-constant functions represented by curves.
In Inequalities, students will leverage their knowledge of functions to discover connections between algebraic and graphical representations, using notation to model real-life situations and predict outcomes in fields like marketing and data analysis.
In Trigonometric Radians and Measure of Angles, focuses on developing an understanding of periodic behaviour through geometric and numerical representations, enabling students to solve practical problems involving oscillatory signals and waves.
Lastly, in Trigonometric Identities and Equations, extend their study of trigonometry to master periodic functions and mathematical models that describe naturally occurring phenomena such as electric currents, radio signals, and pendulums.
During Term 2, students will complete Task 2 which will be worth 30% of their overall Preliminary result for both the Advanced and Extension course.
