Year 11 Mathematics Standard
TERM 3, 2026
Students will begin Term 3 with Topic 7 – Linear Relationships, building on their knowledge from Stage 5. They will model linear relationships and interpret the features of those relationships in a variety of contexts, noting that the y-intercept is the vertical intercept and the gradient is the rate of change.
In Topic 8 – Working with Time, students will investigate how latitude and longitude can be used to locate positions on the earth's surface. This relationship leads to understanding how time zones are used.
Lastly, in Topic 9 – Managing Money, students will build on their knowledge of percentages to examine a variety of methods used when purchasing goods. The importance of learning to budget, allows students to understand the importance of studying financial mathematics.
During Term 3, students will complete Task 3, the Preliminary Examination which will be worth 40% of their overall Preliminary result.
