The common module: Text and Human Experiences explores what makes us human and the experiences that we share. Some specific aspects of the human experience explored include, the struggle with adversity, the pursuit of dreams and the search for identity.The universal idea of human experiences enables all students to participate and make personal connections with ideas in texts.
Students have the opportunity to read and respond to a range of other texts, including websites, non fiction recounts, speeches, news articles and short stories.
The prescribed text for this unit is the film, Billy Elliot. Through the study of this text, students explore how a composer uses the language of film to represent human experiences. They analyse how this representation is influenced by context.
