Rationale: This unit will focus on the case study Witch Hunts and Witch Trials, with a geographical and historical focus on Salem, New England. The unit will give students an overview of historiographical change associated with the Salem Witch Hunts and Witch Trials of 1692-93. The Salem witchcraft historiography has been divided into chronological frames including orthodox/enchanted literature, post-enlightenment perspectives, post-WW2 case study methods, revisionism, feminism and 21st century social empiricist revival. At the same time, the four key questions will continue to provide a framework for investigating the construction of these historical events.
