YEAR 12 MATHEMATICS STANDARD 1 2026

TERM 2 - Simultaneous Linear Equations, Further Statistical Analysis, Budgetring and Household Expenses, Graphs of Practical Situations.

Students will begin Term 2 with Simultaneous Linear Equations – finding the graphical point of intersection between two straight lines, and identifying the break-even point where business cost and revenue meet.

In Further Statistical Analysis – analyse data representations to make predictions and solve problems using statistical processes.

In Budgeting and Household Expenses – managing personal finances by interpreting household utility bills and preparing budgets that balance fixed and discretionary spending.

In Graphs of Practical Situations – construct and sketch graphs to model physical phenomena. They will use technology to determine whether linear or exponential models best approximate data, while evaluating the strengths and limitations of these models in practical contexts.

During Term 2, students will complete Task 3 Past Papers Assessment. It contributes 20% of the overall assessment for the course.
