Our goal for this term is to explore what it means to be Lasallian in the Oakhill College context and in the wider world. Students will also come to know and understand what makes our Catholic Lasallian school in prayer and liturgical life. We will explore the Catholic Church, environmental ethics and will critically reflect on the experience and challenges of transition into Year 7.
We will achieve this by:
Researching, describing and reflecting on the life of St John Baptiste De La Salle
Using current College resources and publications to determine the characteristics of the Oakhill Graduate.
Investigating the process of initiation rites
Looking at the College Calendar to determine events Year 7 will be involved in during Year 7 as they transition to Oakhill College
Researching distinct Catholic practices and values
Reflecting on their experience of initiation into the school as a Catholic community with a special tradition, nature and mission.
Discussing initiation rites
We have this/these goals because:
In 2026, Year 7 students study the unit "Our Catholic Lasallian Identity and Belonging" to transition into their secondary education with a clear understanding of the specific values, traditions, and community expectations that define their new school environment. This unit serves as a foundational exploration of what it means to be part of a global Lasallian family, rooted in the Catholic faith and the 300-year-old mission of St. John Baptist de La Salle
