Year 7 Mathematics Mainstream
TERM 4, 2025
To start this term we will continue our work on Length, Area and Volume. Students will apply formulas to find the area of triangles, rectangles, parallelograms, trapeziums, rhombuses, kites, circles and sectors. Composite shapes will allow students to combine their skills, before progressing to finding the volume of prisms and cylinders.
Next topic is Probability; students will find the probability of a simple event occurring. They will begin with sample space, before investigating the concept behind theoretical versus experimental probability.
Finally, students will begin our last topic The Cartesian Plane. Students will investigate how to identify and plot points on a number plane. Once these skills are established, students will move on to graphing linear relationships, before finishing with solving equations graphically.
During Term 4, students will complete Task 4 which contributes 25% of the student's overall assessment for the year.
