Year 7 Mathematics Mainstream
TERM 2, 2026
Students will begin Term 2 by continuing Topic 3 - Indices, in discovering the use of index notation and investigating the index laws.
In Topic 4 – Fractions and Ratios, students will build essential mathematical skills by learning to compare, add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions to solve practical problems. They will also learn to recognise, simplify, and confidently apply ratios to solve a variety of real-world challenges.
Lastly, Topic 5 - Decimals and Percentages, students will learn to actively identify both decimals and percentages within their daily lives. By connecting these mathematical concepts to familiar, everyday activities, building a stronger understanding of their practical relevance and how they are utilised in the real world.
During Term 2, students will complete Task 2 which contributes to 50% of the overall Semester 1 Report mark, and 25% of the students’ overall assessment for the year.
