Purpose:  To offer after school academic support that provides additional reinforcement of skills needed for academic success. Support will be available for English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. 


Dates Offered:  Tuesday and Thursday from February 7th to May 11th


Time:  3:15-4:15 


How do I register my student? Please complete THIS FORM if you would like for your student to attend after school support for Week 1 (February 7th and 9th). The form will close on February 1st at 5:00PM for Week 1 for any student needing bus transportation (the form will remain open for students that can provide their own transportation). If a student needing bus transportation is NOT registered by the deadline, then BUS TRANSPORTATION WILL NOT BE PROVIDED. 


Please note: Food will not be provided.  If desired, please bring a snack from home.

The Jackson County High School Winter Semi-Formal is Saturday, February 25th from 8:00-10:00 PM in the JCHS Main Gym. Below is some important information you will  need to know if you are planning to attend:

GUESTS: (must be in at least 9th grade and no older than 20 years old)

Guest forms are due to Mrs. Armendariz in the front office by Wednesday, February 22nd at 3:00 PM

ACCESS testing for English Language Learners will begin on Monday, January 30th. Please be sure your child brings their Chromebooks to school fully charged.

FINAL INSTALLMENT:  Make sure that you and your teen driver are aware of the 8 Danger Zones for Teen Drivers.

The JCHS Chorus is selling Valentine's Candy Grams February 1-10 for $2 each. Purchase every morning at the fine arts concession stand or the grand staircase. Candy grams will be delivered in advisement on Feb. 14!

Attention Seniors:  The Georgia Southern REU Site “Propulsion, Aerodynamics, Materials and Controls of Aerial Vehicles” has been funded by the National Science Foundation and the Department of Defense and is open for applications from interested Senior HS students.

Applications are currently being accepted and will close on March 31, 2023 for the upcoming summer.  The program will run between May 15, and July 23, 2023. We encourage Senior HS students to apply early to ensure they have time to gather the requisite document package needed to complete their applications.  Students will receive a stipend of $6000 plus support for travel ($300), subsistence ($860), and housing ($500) for the 10 weeks of the program. Congratulations to Ramon Castillo – February's Rotary Student of the Month for Jackson County High School! Ramon chose Mr. Jason Powers as his most influential teacher.

Students from all grades competed in our schoolwide Literary Competition for essay writing and extemporaneous speaking. Winners will move on to the GHSA Region Literary Meet in February.

The JCHS International Club's January meeting focused on South Korea. They learned about their culture and history, and played games.

The JCHS Jazz One Band was selected to perform at GMEA (Georgia Music Educators Association) and they rocked the house today! This is a huge honor to be selected to perform for all the state music educators. 

A special thank you to Dr. Brown, our superintendent, and Mr. Wester, our principal for attending the performance. We appreciate your support! 

It has been a busy month for Jackson County High School Dance Department! Beginners have learned some barre work and reverence. Advanced students refined techniques and flexibility.

JCHS senior, Anna Miller is a 2nd-year WBL student at Union Baptist Church Preschool. This semester Anna is taking two WBL blocks and two dual enrollment classes to prepare for her next step in life. Anna is applying to Kennesaw State University and Georgia College, and plans to major in Biology for a career as a Physicians Assistant in the pediatric field. Anna says, “WBL helps me to work with children and assess my career choice.”

WRESTLING TAKES ON REGION INDIVIDUALS

Duals season is complete, and now we head to Traditionals (Individuals).  Our Lady Panther wrestling team will head to Stephens County for the Area Tournament on Friday, while the Men travel to North Forsyth on Saturday for Region Traditionals.  Qualifiers this weekend move on to sectionals, and then state!

BUSY WEEK FOR BASKETBALL

Our basketball teams had a busy and competitive week last week.  The girls scored a great win over Apalachee on Tuesday night, and both JV teams beat Lanier on Saturday.

This week, the varsity squads head to Shiloh on Friday night.

SOCCER KICKS OFF

The soccer scrimmage was a success!  Rabun County came to Panther Stadium and went home with two losses.  The Lady Panthers won 10-0, while the boys scored a 6-0 win of their own.  The regular season begins this week.

The 2023-2024 JCSS Program of Study is available.  The Jackson County School System has provided the JCSS Program of Study as a planning guide for our families and students to use. The JCSS Program of Study shows the connection between class work and future success, pointing out the relevance of academic learning in the classroom.
