Purpose:  The purpose of PASS is to offer after school academic support that provides additional reinforcement of skills needed for academic success. Support will be available for English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Spanish. 


Dates Offered:  Tuesday and Thursday from February 7th to May 11th


Time:  3:15-4:15 


How do I register my student? Please complete THIS FORM if you would like for your student to attend after school support for Week 6 (March 16th ONLY). The form will close on March 8th at 5:00PM for Week 6 for any student needing bus transportation (the form will remain open for students that can provide their own transportation). If a student needing bus transportation is NOT registered by the deadline, then BUS TRANSPORTATION WILL NOT BE PROVIDED. 


Please note: Food will not be provided.  If desired, please bring a snack from home.

Congratulations to Jaxco Dance for being recognized by the National Dance Educators Organization as a new chapter in the National Honor Society for Dance Arts. Jaxco Dance will induct its charter members during their May recital. The NHSDA is the established honor society for dance education. Its purpose is to promote scholarship, artistry and leadership in school dance programs and to foster a community of dance scholars nation wide. 

It's BETA WEEK!!  We are donating supplies to our Local Animal Shelter!  You can bring in toys, food, water, blankets, leashes, treats, cleaning supplies, towels, grooming supplies, collars, flea & tick medication, office supplies, nursing bottles, etc.  See Mrs. Dudley for more details. GSBA's Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is now accepting applications for 2023! The YAC is a student leadership program formed by GSBA to give high school students the opportunity to provide meaningful input to school board members and aid them in their decision-making. In addition, YAC members will have the opportunity to enhance their leadership skills and contribute to their community by affecting positive change for students across Georgia. The first round of the application process is open now and will close March 23, 2023. The purpose of the Young Georgia Authors (YGA) writing competition is to encourage students to develop an enthusiasm for and expertise in their writing, to provide a context to celebrate their writing successes, and to recognize student achievement in arts and academics.

This prestigious competition has been engaging Georgia students for more than two decades and is open to any student currently enrolled in Georgia public schools, grades K-12. The competition is sponsored by the Georgia Language Arts Supervisors (GLAS) and the Georgia RESA Network with support from the Georgia Department of Education.

The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce recognized the STAR Students and Teachers, along with the Teachers of the Year from each school during a banquet February 27th. Mrs. O'Kelley was recognized as the JCHS Teacher of the Year.  Jackson County High School's Kellen Salom was recognized as the STAR student and chose Steven Bowles as the STAR teacher. Congratulations to all those who were honored Monday night and representing the Jackson County School System! 

Congratulations to Raven Cook – March's Rotary Student of the Month for Jackson County High School! Raven chose Mrs. Dani Fowler as her most influential teacher. 

JCHS senior, Desiree Quilles is having a blast in her last semester between school, swimming, & WBL. In January, she signed with Emmanuel College. This month in WBL, she is working with Deputy McCook and will observe CID (Investigations). She will have the opportunity to be go with some of the investigators to the courthouse for Grand Jury hearings. This will help Desi gain valuable insight in the criminal justice field of her interest.

Congratulations to the JCHS Concert, Symphonic, and Wind Ensemble bands who are bringing home STRAIGHT SUPERIORS for all THREE BANDS during their Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE). 

Gus Weed and Gavin Lee are performing with the Inaugural Georgia All State Percussion Ensemble on Thursday!  They are being taught by She-E Wu, world-famous percussion and professor at Northwestern University. Congratulations to our Panther Percussionists!

Panther Press Digital Announcements

We have SO MANY amazing opportunities and events occurring at JCHS.  The presentation below is a "one-stop-shop" to learn about the "happenings" at JCHS.  We will house all of our digital flyers in this section of the Panther Press each week.  Also, the digital flyers are displayed throughout the school on our Visix boards

PANTHER ATHLETICS DOING WELL IN OVERALL STATE RANKINGS

Winter sports are complete, and JAXCO Panther Athletic teams are currently in the top 20 in Class AAAAAA and 2nd in region 8-AAAAAA in the GADA Directors Cup standings.  The Directors Cup is an overall point system that measures the success of all sports.


BIG WINS FOR BASEBALL THIS WEEK

Panther Baseball had a great week!

On Tuesday, the Panthers traveled to Toccoa to take on Class AAA #10 Stephens County.  The Panthers walked away with an 8-2 road win.

On Thursday, the Panthers opened Region play at home against the Shiloh Generals.  On a rainy night, Jaxco once again prevailed 6-3.

GREAT WINS FOR PANTHER SOCCER

The Lady Panthers rolled to a 10-0 win over Apalachee on Tuesday, upping their region record to 5-0 on the season.  The boys finished the doubleheader with a thrilling 3-1 win over the Wildcats.  

Unfortunately, due to weather, our senior night matches against Banks County were postponed.  They will be rescheduled soon.

TRACK AND FIELD TRAVELS TO EAST JACKSON, PERFORMS WELL

Our Panther Track and Field teams performed well at East Jackson this week.  In a 14 school field, the Panther girls took second place, while the boys finished 5th.  Sole Bailey set another school record, this time in the 300m hurdles.

The JCSS Program of Study shows the connection between class work and future success, pointing out the relevance of academic learning in the classroom.
