FCCLA WEEK

The JCHS FCCLA chapter celebrated FCCLA week BIG!  On Wednesday, February 15th they spent the day in Atlanta and visited the Georgia State Capitol, Atlanta Hawks, and took a tour at the World of Coke.

During the visit at the Capitol, students were able to meet with our local legislature, Emory Dunahoo Jr. FCCLA members were able to view the state government in action and learn about the judicial and lawmaking processes.

While attending the day at the Hawks, students were able to listen to a panel of Hawks business staff that included Nutritional, Culinary, and Events Operations staff.

FCCLA then headed to the World of Coke for a tour and taste various Coke from around the world. Students finished the evening at the Hawks vs. Knicks game where selected students were able to participate in rebounds while players warmed up!

JCHS Band students participated in the Pre Large Group Performance Evaluation last week in the auditorium. They will perform at LGPE on February 28th at East Jackson Comprehensive High School.

What is LGPE? This is an event where the band performs three contrasting pieces for adjudicators, and sight read one piece of music. The judges then rank playing abilities using letters and numbers and give helpful feedback to the band program.

JCHS Drama students enjoyed the 2023 Thespian Conference last week in Columbus, Georgia! “The best three days of high school theatre in Georgia” took place in venues including The Columbus Trade Center, The River Center, The Springer Opera House, and the CSU Riverside Theatre.

If you need repair or service for your vehicle take it to Universal Service Center and see JCHS senior Reis Brooks and his father. Reis participates in yearlong WBL to expand his skill set in the automotive mechanics industry. Reis plans to attend technical college to gain further experience in automotive body and collision repair. Reis says, “WBL and technical college have and will help me to diversify my automotive knowledge.”
