Secondary Handbook Sign-off: The Jackson County School System will be using student handbooks for policy and procedure sign-offs. Once you have reviewed the handbook, please sign in to your Infinite Campus Parent Portal account to acknowledge that you have read and understood the information.
JCSS 2023-24 Medical Form and Occupational Survey Form: Your student was given paper copies of these two important forms on the first day of school. We kindly request that you complete and return the forms to the school as soon as possible.
Remembering a Cherished JCHS Staff Member
It is with extreme sadness the Jackson County School System announces that Thursday, August 10, Charlene Faulkner, a 29-year staff member at Jackson County High School, suffered a medical emergency and passed away at a nearby hospital. The JCSS and Jackson County High School community is devastated by the loss of her passing. Ms. Faulkner was a beloved coworker and staple inside Jackson County High School and within our community. To say she will be missed is an understatement. The Jackson County School System asks to please keep Ms. Faulkner’s family and friends in your thoughts in the coming days and weeks ahead.

Canvas Observer Accounts for Parents and Guardians
The Jackson County School System has taken great strides to implement the use of Canvas for instructional purposes throughout our school system. Parents have the ability to establish a Canvas Observer Account, where assignment details, quiz information and scores, along with additional learning materials will be viewable.

Student Parking
Starting Monday, August 14th, students planning to drive to school must obtain a parking pass for the 2023-2024 school year by completing the Parking Application Form and making a $60.00 payment. Payment options include cash, check (payable to JCHS), or online payment via School Pay. It's important to retain the payment receipt from School Pay for pass issuance. Driver's license presentation is mandatory for purchasing a parking pass. Passes can be purchased from Mrs. Armendariz's office from 7:30-8:00 AM or during lunchtime in the cafeteria. Contact Mrs. Armendariz for any inquiries.

Student Advisory Council
Georgia State School Superintendent Richard Woods is calling for 10th to 12th-grade students to participate in his 2023-2024 Student Advisory Council. Chosen students will confer with Superintendent Woods on state policy impacts and education issues, becoming advocates for their schools. Meetings will occur in-person four times during the school year, aiming to gather student insights for informed policy decisions.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Click here for the 2023-2024 Student Advisory Council application. Applications must be submitted by September 8, 2023, at 5 p.m. Late applications will not be accepted.
Students in grades 10-12 enrolled in a public high school (including charter schools and virtual students) are eligible to apply.
Selected students will be contacted via email. All students may visit gadoe.org/studentadvisory on September 26, 2023, at 10 a.m. to determine if they have been selected.
Service Academy Day
Representative Mike Collins will host the 2023 Service Academy Day on August 19th at Prince Avenue Christian School in Monroe, GA. The event aims to inform students in grades 8-12 about the application and nomination procedures for the five military service academies. Representatives from these academies will discuss admission requirements, and students interested in nomination must submit their application package to Collins' office by October 20, 2023.

This Week! Student Council is hosting a Scavenger Hunt ALL WEEK! Look around campus to find JC PAWS and submit the JC PAW to Ms. Lord in Room 4203 (Upper A hall) for a PRIZE!! Happy Looking Panthers :)

Work-Based Learning Highlights
In the realm of Work-Based Learning, having a superb industry collaborator such as Jackson EMC plays a crucial role in steering our JCHS students towards their career paths. Adriana Denova and Logan Maddox are actively engaged in the Residential/Marketing division, while Carley Pruiett operates within the Engineering/Operations sector. Meanwhile, Gavin White is contributing as an intern in the Warehousing Apprentice program. All of them are actively involved in the summer WBL initiative and are set to sustain their employment throughout their senior year. We extend our gratitude to Jackson EMC for their unwavering support of our JCSS WBL program.
Community Kickoff Event
The Jackson County School System held the first-ever Community Kickoff Event on Thursday, August 10th at East Jackson Comprehensive High School. The event was followed by a preseason football scrimmage between Jackson County and East Jackson. It was a tremendous night to celebrate our community.

VOLLEYBALL 7-0, COUNTY CHAMPS
What an amazing week for Panther Volleyball. Earlier this week, the Panthers defeated defending AAA State Champion Oconee County, and two AAAAAAA playoff teams in Dacula and Mill Creek.
On Saturday, our girls dominated the first ever BATTLE OF JACKSON COUNTY, defeating East Jackson, Commerce, and Jefferson to take home the title.
CROSS COUNTRY OPENS SEASON
It was a great start to the Cross Country season at East on Saturday. Multiple Top 20 Finishers from each race division and multiple PR's:

FOOTBALL WINS SCRIMMAGE AT EAST
Thursday Night at East Jackson, the Panther football team took the field against East Jackson in a pre season scrimmage.
The team won the game behind a stingy defense and an offense that looked explosive at times.
This week, we open the regular season with Dawson County at HOME!
SOFTBALL OPENS SEASON
Tuesday was opening day for our Softball team, and they took home a big 10-1 win over Hart County to start the year.
On Thursday, we dropped a game to perennial power Dacula.
The girls are back in action this week AT Bethlehem Christian on Tuesday.
