AP Exam Registration
AP Exam Registration is LIVE for all students taking AP courses in the spring of 2024!!
Students must complete the two-step registration and payment process by March 1st at 11:59 PM.
After 12:01 AM on March 2, 2024 students will be charged a late fee of $ 40.00 per exam.
Parents and students can locate the AP testing exam schedule, AP Spring Testing Letter, and link to the Total Registration website at our JCHS AP web page.
Any student having trouble accessing their College Board account may contact the College Board directly by calling 1-866-315-6068.

EXAM EXEMPTION POLICY
High school seniors with an A average in the course will be exempt from the final exam for that course. Students in grades 9-11 may not exempt final exams.
A final exam does NOT include an EOC, EOPA, or other mandated test.
Students and parents/guardians will be notified in advance if a student is exempt from a final exam.

IB Applications
We are currently accepting applications for students who wish to participate in the full IB Diploma Program as juniors and seniors. To learn more about the IB diploma program, please review our school’s IB website as well as the official IBO Diploma Parent Pack.
Any 10th grade students interested must complete the application this year. 9th grade students who are interested are also encouraged to apply now in order to ensure their 10th grade schedules prepare them for success in the IB program. (Please note, students are welcome to take 1-3 IB courses without applying to and participating in the full Diploma Program.)

Georgia Student Health Survey
The Georgia Student Health Survey will be administered to all students on Tuesday, January 16th during 2nd period to all JCHS students. This is an anonymous, statewide survey that identifies school safety and climate issues that impact student achievement. The survey takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. If you would like to examine the survey, please come by the school between 9:00 and 2:00, and we will be happy to provide you with a copy to review. Additional detailed information about the survey is available in THIS LETTER.
The Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA) gives you the right to opt your child out of participating in the survey. If you do not wish for your child to participate in the Georgia Student Health Survey, you must sign and return THIS form (Spanish version is HERE) to the school by Friday, Jan 12th @ 9:00am. If you can’t print a copy of the form at home, the front office at JCHS has them available for parent/student pick up.
Save the Date!
Advisement Night will provide an opportunity for parents to schedule a meeting with their student's advisor to register for courses for the 24/25 school year.
Parents/Guardians may schedule a 15 minute meeting with their student's advisor to review their student's selected course options or ask questions. Advisors will contact parents/guardians this week with directions about how to schedule a meeting. Please note that an appointment is required in order to meet with your student's advisor during Advisement Night.
In addition, informational sessions about Empower courses, AP courses, and the IB Programme will occur in the JCHS Cafeteria. Please stop by the Cafeteria at your convenience to speak with representatives from these programs.
Pathway Information Night at Empower
The Empower College and Career Center will be holding a Pathway Information Night on Tuesday, Jan. 23 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The event is open to students, family and the community. This is a great opportunity to learn about the courses offered at Empower, which serves students from both East Jackson Comprehensive High School and Jackson County High School! This event will take place at the Empower College & Career Center located at 1952 Winder Hwy, Jefferson, GA 30549.

Mai Xuan Johnson interned with Jefferson Dental Care in Jefferson though the Work-Based Learning Program. She observed the hygienists and dental procedures performed in the office. She enjoyed the hands-on experience and even got to assist with an extraction!

Senior Pictures:
Your formal (tux or black drape) photo for the yearbook must be taken by Cady Studios. Your senior photos must be taken by December 15th to appear in the yearbook.
You may submit a casual photo by an outside photographer. If you are going to use a casual photo from your Cady shoot, you DO NOT need to upload your photo. If you would like to use a casual photo from an outside photographer, please upload your image at this link.
Be sure to type the student's first name, last name, and school email in the appropriate boxes to ensure your photo is placed in the yearbook. Then click 'Upload Portrait'. Uploading your image is the ONLY way to submit a casual photo. Please DO NOT email them to Mrs. Pitman or the yearbook staff. You MUST upload your photo by December 15th.

Peach State Federal Credit Union Student Scholarships
$3000 Andy Byers Student Scholarship for Jackson County: Scholarship is in honor of Andy Byers, retired superintendent of Jackson County Schools, for his contributions to the Jackson County School System and awarded to a graduating senior pursuing a degree in education. There will be 1 awarded in Jackson County. Application deadline 2/29/2024. Click HERE for more information.
$5000 Legacy Student Scholarship: There will be 5 awarded across Peach State’s entire service area. These will be awarded to a graduating senior pursuing any collegiate degree. This scholarship is to honor the legacy of past and present board members and employees who have served Peach State for 20 years or more. Application deadline 2/29/2024. JCSS Career Fair
The Jackson County School System will be hosting a Career Fair on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Empower College and Career Center. Positions available include: K-12 Teachers, Special Education Teachers, Paraprofessionals, School Food Nutrition, Transportation, Custodial, Student Support Services and Facilities and Maintenance!

BOYS BASKETBALL 2-0 in REGION
With wins over Apalachee and North Forsyth this week, our boys basketball team started it's region schedule 2-0 this week. They have won 6 out of their last 8 games as well.
BOYS WRESTLING WINS WALNUT GROVE DUALS
Boys varsity wrestling defeated Westminister, Parkview, and Walnut Grove on Saturday to win the Walnut Grove Dual Meet.
They will prepare this week for the Region 8-AAAAAA duals at Lanier High School on Saturday.
Girls WRESTLING PERFORMS WELL AT NORCROSS
Our varsity girls wrestlers took the mat at Norcross High School this week. Our girls went 11-7 overall, with Alina Jurovschi, Annabelle Ally, and Amiya Edwards going undefeated on the night.
They will head to Gainesville this Friday for their Area Duals Championships.
