EXEMPTION POLICY:
In order to earn an exam exemption in a class, the student must have an A (weighted average) in the course.
A final exam does NOT include an EOC, EOPA, or other mandated assessment.
Students and parents/guardians will be notified in advance if a student is exempt from a final exam.

On December 19th and December 20th , students are only required to be on campus when they are taking final exams. When students are on campus, they are expected to be in their assigned classes. Students may not be on campus just to loiter, hang out, bring food to other students, socialize, etc. They may not be in areas other than their assigned classes.
Exemption Requirements for JCHS Final Exams (as written in the Student Handbook):
Students will be given the opportunity to exempt a final exam if the student has an A (weighted average) in the course.
An exempted assessment is not counted in the gradebook.
A final exam does NOT include an EOC, EOPA, or other mandated assessment.
To verify if your student is exempt from a JCHS Final Exam please:
Check your student's coursework average via the Infinite Campus Portal. A student is exempt from the final exam if their coursework average is a weighted 90 or higher. Parents/Guardians and Students have access to the Infinite Campus Portal. Find out more information about downloading the Infinite Campus Parent app and setting up notifications HERE.
Students received prior notification in class if they are exempt from any JCHS Final Exams administered on December 19th & 20th. In addition, students received an Exam Exemption Notification Form on PINK paper to obtain Teacher Signatures indicating exam exemption per course if they wanted a "hard copy" version to share with parents/guardians.
Students will not be counted absent on Monday, December 19th and Tuesday, December 20th if exempted from an exam.

JCHS Student Drivers: Please be reminded of the importance of driving safely as you travel to and from JCHS each day. Your safety and the safety of others are of utmost importance and it is vital that each of you give your full attention and drive with caution to and from campus. On days when the weather or traffic is not ideal, such as a day with rain, snow, or road backups, we ask that you take even greater precautions and drive with patience, attention, and care as you travel to and from campus. Also, please remember to wear your seatbelt.

Students must follow the correct traffic patterns as indicated by markings and signage in the parking lots. Drivers should be courteous and cautious at all times.
The JCHS Campus speed limit is 10 mph.

JCHS is hosting a Curriculum Night on January 5th from 6-7:30PM
Jackson Electric Membership Corporation (EMC) is accepting applications for the annual Washington Youth Tour, sponsored by the nation’s electric cooperatives. Jackson EMC will send four student delegates on an all-expense paid leadership development experience to Washington, D.C., June 15-22, 2023.
Current high school sophomores and juniors in the Jackson EMC service region who have demonstrated leadership potential, academic success and community service may apply directly online HERE. Applications must be received at Jackson EMC by 5:00 p.m. on January 31, 2023.
Finalists will interview on Feb. 20, 2023, with a panel of business, community and university leaders to be one of Jackson EMC’s four delegates to receive the Washington Youth Tour leadership experience.

Mr. Bolt's Advisement Class won first place in our first-annual Holiday Trivia Contest sponsored by the Library Learning Commons!
Ms. Curtis's and Ms. Fowler's Advisements won the 'Twas the Night Before Christmas Contest. Students worked together to create a modern day version of the famous poem. Thank you for participating!
Coach Croteau’s Peer Leadership class hosted a holiday celebration for our Adapted PE students. Students played reindeer toss, decorated cookies, colored, and made ornaments! Fun time for everyone!

JCHS Students Receive their ServSafe Certificate!
Congratulations to these Food Science students for receiving their ServSafe Certificate!
The ServSafe certification was developed to educate restaurant workers and other food handlers about the best practices in food safety.
We have SO MANY amazing opportunities and events occurring at JCHS. The presentation below is a "one-stop-shop" to learn about the "happenings" at JCHS. We will house all of our digital flyers in this section of the Panther Press each week. Also, the digital flyers are displayed throughout the school on our Visix boards.
BASKETBALL CONTINUES TO IMPROVE
Both our Varsity Girls and Boys basketball teams played well on Friday night, but ultimately came up just short at Franklin County.
The Panthers play tomorrow at home vs. Winder Barrow, before heading into the break. We will host a BIG Holiday basketball tournament over the break!
WRESTLING CONTINUES TO SHINE
Jaxco has a great showing at the Lady Nutcracker Invitational at Lumpkin County! Lilly Chavis and Raven Cook were both champions , Aubrey Dobbs finished second , and Peyton Hallen-Banks missed placing by one match!
The Boys varsity A team competed at the prestigious Keen Invitational this weekend, with several making the semifinals or above. The team finished 6th in a loaded field of top wrestlers.
The Boys varsity B team travelled to Lumpkin County and performed well. Mikey Castro and Zack Scott placed in their weight classes.
SWIM CATS UPDATE
The SwimCats competed at the University of Georgia this past weekend, with several individual accomplishments!

The Georgia Foundation for Agriculture is committed to investing in students pursuing careers in agriculture or a related field. For the 2023 year, GFA is offering $70,000 worth of scholarships. The 2023-2024 JCSS Program of Study is available. The Jackson County School System has provided the JCSS Program of Study as a planning guide for our families and students to use. The JCSS Program of Study shows the connection between class work and future success, pointing out the relevance of academic learning in the classroom.
