Purpose: The purpose of PASS is to offer after school academic support that provides additional reinforcement of skills needed for academic success. Support will be available for English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Spanish.
Dates Offered: Tuesday and Thursday from February 7th to May 11th
Time: 3:15-4:15
How do I register my student? Please complete THIS FORM if you would like for your student to attend after school support for Week 12 (May 2nd and 4th). The form will close on April 26th at 5:00PM for Week 12 for any student needing bus transportation (the form will remain open for students that can provide their own transportation). If a student needing bus transportation is NOT registered by the deadline, then BUS TRANSPORTATION WILL NOT BE PROVIDED.
Please note: Food will not be provided. If desired, please bring a snack from home.
IMPORTANT EXAM NOTES
ALL EOC TESTING WILL OCCUR ON THE JCHS CAMPUS. Students testing for EOC exams that normally attend EMPOWER in the mornings will need to remain on the JCHS campus to take their exam.
NO early exams will be administered
NO check-outs are allowed during exams
If a student is absent for a scheduled exam, a zero will be entered in IC until the exam is made-up

FINAL EXAMS: EXEMPTION POLICY
In order to earn an exam exemption in a class, the student must have an A (weighted average) in the course.
A final exam does NOT include an EOC, EOPA, or other mandated assessment.

Car riders and students who drive may leave campus at 10:55
Lunch: 10:55-11:20 (all students) with a release to buses by 11:25
Grade Reporting for Semester 2
The third grade reporting term (13.5 weeks) ended on April 20th.
Student grades will be posted on April 24th at 3:30PM. Please check Infinite Campus to view your student's 13.5-weeks grades.
Student academic goal setting will occur in Advisement the week of April 24th.
The Jackson County School System will be switching vendors for school meal payments. The change will occur district-wide on Monday, May 1. JCSS will be switching to Titan School Solutions, which will allow for our organization to become more efficient in regards to our school nutrition department.
Things to know:
Student balances on current accounts will automatically transfer to the Titan account for each student.
Student debt balances will also transfer to the new program.
We will continue to use School Pay for payments until 2 p.m. on Friday, April 28. Beginning on May 1, we will transition payment to the Titan program.

JCHS is proud to offer a robust Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate Program. For all students enrolled in either AP or IB courses for the 2023-2024 school year, please review the expectations for advanced coursework.
The Jackson County Special Olympics took place on April 20th at East Jackson High School, bringing together athletes with disabilities from different schools and organizations. The athletes competed in track and field events and showcased their skills and sportsmanship to a supportive crowd. The event promotes inclusivity and highlights the abilities of these athletes. It was made possible by the hard work of organizers, volunteers, and sponsors who ensure the athletes have a memorable experience. The Jackson County Special Olympics is a shining example of a community coming together to support individuals with disabilities.
Linda Dutil, a dedicated emergency department nurse from Waterville, Maine, recently took the time to educate students on the risks associated with drugs, alcohol, smoking, and vaping. She also emphasized the importance of making healthy choices and helped students understand the consequences of poor decision-making.
The National Honor Society (NHS) at Jackson County High School has recently elected its new officers for the 2023-2024 academic year. These students have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and community involvement, and will take on important responsibilities within the organization. Congratulations to the newly elected NHS officers, who will undoubtedly continue to uphold the values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character that the society embodies. We look forward to seeing all of the great things that they will accomplish in the coming year!
The Ready to Work Fair was held last week at the Empower College and Career Center. The Ready to Work Fair included businesses actively seeking high school seniors ready to join the workforce after graduation this May!

On Thursday, April 20th, 25 Jackson County students traveled to UNG Dahlonega to compete in their 46th annual Modern Language Day. Students from high schools all over the state are invited to compete in a variety of categories such as art, crafts, multimedia creations, creative writing, performing arts, and more. Our students are able to showcase their knowledge and passion for Spanish or French language and culture and this year, we had several of our students place!
JP Aguilar-Jiminez (French), Carmen Tettekpoe (French), Nolan Bell (Spanish), and Hannah Williams (Spanish) competed in the Language Bowl and won FIRST PLACE out of seven teams!

We had an amazing time at the International Festival, which showcased the finest traditional cuisine, music, and art from Jackson County. We extend our gratitude to everyone who took part and joined us for an unforgettable evening of festivities.
Jackson County High School celebrated its International Baccalaureate (IB) program with a banquet on Wednesday evening. As part of the festivities, juniors presented their ongoing projects to an audience of family and guests. The evening was also a special occasion for the five graduating seniors who completed the rigorous IB certification program. These accomplished students, including Casey Harriott, Jennifer Ramos Soto, Kellen Salom, Jack Washburn, and Bryson Lagos, were recognized for their outstanding achievements. The IB program is designed to challenge and prepare students for college-level coursework, and these graduates have demonstrated a high level of dedication and academic excellence. Congratulations to all of the honorees!
Senior WBL student, Brooks Allen has a plan. He is a GA CATT apprentice with Solmax in Pendergrass. GA CATT stands for Georgia Consortium for Advanced Technical Training, which is an internationally recognized certification. At Solmax, Brooks works through the curriculum to design projects coached by mentors. Brooks will continue this pursuit at Lanier Tech (in Mechatronics) and will have a full-time position at Solmax. Great job, Brooks.

GOLF PERFORMS WELL AT AREA, HOLLEY QUALIFIES FOR STATE
Both our boys and girls golf teams performed well at the Area Tournament last week, shooting their best scores of the year.
Sophomore Anna Holley shot an 84, which qualified her for the Class AAAAAA championships at Jekyll Island later this month.
TENNIS SEASON ENDS AT STATE TOURNAMENT
Congratulations on a great season to our boys and girls tennis teams! The girls season ended at home vs. Roswell last week, while the boys ended their year at Pope HS.
The girls finished region runners up this year, going undefeated in the regular season. The boys, after an 0-8 start, fought hard and won 6 out of their last 8 matches to qualify for state.
BASEBALL
Our baseball team headed to STATE for the second consecutive year! This Saturday, we travelled to Blessed Trinity, the #1 ranked team in Class 6A. Our Panthers played tough, but ultimately came up short. It was a great season!

Jackson County Farm Bureau Donald Childs Scholarship: Mr. Donald Childs, a longtime Georgia Farm Bureau Volunteer, served on the Georgia Farm Bureau Board of Directors from 1979-2008 and served as the North Georgia Vice President from 1984-2008. This $500.00 Scholarship was originated in his honor to recognize and assist a deserving and outstanding young person who is pursuing a college degree in agriculture or a related field. See your school counselor for the application. The application is due April 21st. Learn more below.

The 2023-2024 JCSS Program of Study is available. The Jackson County School System has provided the JCSS Program of Study as a planning guide for our families and students to use. The JCSS Program of Study shows the connection between class work and future success, pointing out the relevance of academic learning in the classroom.
