Important Reminders:
On Wednesday, January 3rd students will begin new classes for the Second Semester.
Students should check Infinite Campus to review their schedule for Second Semester.
Students should report to their First Period (for Second Semester) upon arriving to school.

JCHS will be providing transportation to Empower each day from 7:30AM to 7:50AM for students who have morning classes at Empower. There will be several shuttles continually operating during this time period. If parents/guardians are choosing to drop their child off via car rider, students should arrive at JCHS no later than 7:45AM in order to be placed on a shuttle. Parents/Guardians arriving after 7:50AM should make plans to transport their student directly to Empower. Mid-day and End of day transportation to/from Empower will also be provided.
Student Check-Out Policy: Students should bring a check-out note to the front office the morning they need to leave. The front office staff will write a note for the student to check-out at that time. If your student is sick, please have them go through the nurse clinic to check-out. Panthers may review the JCHS Check-Out Policy in the JCHS Student Handbook.
As we begin second semester, please take a moment to review the Cell Phone Policy, Tardy Policy, and Dress Code.

Advisement Night will provide an opportunity for parents to schedule a meeting with their student's advisor to register for courses for the 24/25 school year. Information will also be available about AP courses, IB Programme, and Empower courses.

Washington Youth Tour 2024
Jackson EMC is currently accepting applications for the annual Washington Youth Tour from June 14-21, 2024. If you're a current high school sophomore or junior with a track record of demonstrating leadership potential, achieving academic success, and engaging in community service, you have the option to apply directly online at www.jacksonemc.com/wyt. Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on January 31, 2024.
UGA Young Scholars Program
The Young Scholars Program at the University of Georgia is a paid, five-week summer internship opportunity for high school students interested in agricultural, food, and environmental sciences. Attention Student Drivers:
As you travel to and from JCHS, we want to remind you of the importance of driving safely. Your safety and the safety of others on the road are of utmost importance. It's essential that you give your full attention and drive with caution as you commute to and from campus.
When entering the JCHS roundabout, be sure to enter the roundabout to your right, and drive counterclockwise. Upon entering the roundabout, please remain mindful of buses and other vehicles that are arriving and exiting the campus.
Students must follow the correct traffic patterns as indicated by markings and signage in the parking lots.
Drivers should be courteous and cautious at all times.
The JCHS Campus speed limit is 10 mph.
Weather conditions can make driving more challenging, so it's important to take extra precautions during adverse weather. Please drive with patience, attention, and care.
Please remember to wear your seatbelt at all times.

Key Club Pen Pal Party
The Jackson County High School Key Club recently hosted 5th-grade Pen Pal Friends from Gum Springs Elementary School for a festive gathering before the holiday break. Activities included a pizza party, a cookie decorating session, and a collaborative bracelet-making adventure. The highlight of the day was a high-spirited tour of the high school, offering the young guests a glimpse into their future academic journey. The event not only celebrated friendship but also showcased the positive impact of mentorship and community support. A heartfelt thank you to the Key Club members for creating lasting memories and fostering meaningful connections among the students.
Work-Based Learning Spotlight
JaMyia Walker participates in Work-Based Learning as a senior. She works at her family’s business (Global HVAC) as an online coordinator assisting with customers, social media, and communications. Upon graduation, she plans to attend Clark Atlanta University to study child psychology. JaMyia took a variety of CTAE courses to help identify and realize her future.

Senior Pictures:
Your formal (tux or black drape) photo for the yearbook must be taken by Cady Studios. Your senior photos must be taken by December 15th to appear in the yearbook.
You may submit a casual photo by an outside photographer. If you are going to use a casual photo from your Cady shoot, you DO NOT need to upload your photo. If you would like to use a casual photo from an outside photographer, please upload your image at this link.
Be sure to type the student's first name, last name, and school email in the appropriate boxes to ensure your photo is placed in the yearbook. Then click 'Upload Portrait'. Uploading your image is the ONLY way to submit a casual photo. Please DO NOT email them to Mrs. Pitman or the yearbook staff. You MUST upload your photo by December 15th.

Peach State Federal Credit Union Student Scholarships
$3000 Andy Byers Student Scholarship for Jackson County: Scholarship is in honor of Andy Byers, retired superintendent of Jackson County Schools, for his contributions to the Jackson County School System and awarded to a graduating senior pursuing a degree in education. There will be 1 awarded in Jackson County. Application deadline 2/29/2024. Click HERE for more information.
$5000 Legacy Student Scholarship: There will be 5 awarded across Peach State’s entire service area. These will be awarded to a graduating senior pursuing any collegiate degree. This scholarship is to honor the legacy of past and present board members and employees who have served Peach State for 20 years or more. Application deadline 2/29/2024. Peach State Federal Credit Union requests that applicants select which scholarship to apply for and not apply for multiple scholarships.

JCSS Career Fair
The Jackson County School System will be hosting a Career Fair on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Empower College and Career Center. Positions available include: K-12 Teachers, Special Education Teachers, Paraprofessionals, School Food Nutrition, Transportation, Custodial, Student Support Services and Facilities and Maintenance!

JAXCO HOLIDAY HOOPFEST A SUCCESS!
The Second annual Jaxco Holiday Hoopfest was a huge success! Both of our Panther teams won their first round games and came in 4th place in the tournament.
GREAT "BREAK" FOR PANTHER WRESTLING
Boys Wrestling had a busy "Holiday Break", competing in three events. The Panthers went 2-2 at Commerce, 4-0 at Oglethorpe, and finished 3rd out of 23 schools at the CFK Invitational at Jefferson.
The girls team also competed over the break, with a successful run at the Lady War Eagle Invitational at Chestatee.
