JCHS Band had an incredible experience at the Northeast Georgia Band Exhibition on Tuesday, September 20th. One of the highlights for the students is seeing the University of Georgia Redcoat Band. They were amazing and inspiring for our band to see up close!

Also, the JCHS Band is bringing home some hardware from the Oconee Classic Marching Contest hosted at Baldwin High School on Saturday, September 24th.

Students in Art 1 classes have completed some amazing grid drawings.

In a nutshell, the grid method involves drawing a grid over a reference photo, and then drawing a grid of equal ratio on their work surface. Students then draw the image on their work surface, focusing on one square at a time, until the entire image has been transferred.

Check out some of their masterpieces in the image carousel below!

Jackson EMC is a great partner with JCSS WBL, and Jake Roberts is proving to be a skillful addition to their team.

Students in Mrs. Dudley's 1st Period Biology class are coding strands of DNA into mRNA to make silly Biology sentences to simulate the process of Protein Synthesis.

We have SO MANY amazing opportunities and events occurring at JCHS.  The digital flyer carousel below is a "one-stop-shop" to learn about the "happenings" at JCHS.  We will house all of our digital flyers in this section of the Panther Press each week.  Also, the digital flyers are displayed throughout the school on our Visix boards.

Watch us GROW!

This is Ms. Lord's 2nd year in Education! She taught middle school math last year and this is her 1st year teaching high school math. She attended LaGrange College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, then she continued her education at LaGrange College by earning her Master of Arts degree in Teaching. Upon graduation, she moved back up to the area, and she is so excited to join the JaxCo Community!

Her favorite hobbies are baking, watching movies, tending to her house plants, making pottery, and spending time with her family and friends!

Mr. Malone started his career in education as a TA and tutor for freshman composition at UGA. He worked primarily in the Athletics department helping football and women’s basketball players with understanding argument and rhetoric. It was a wonderful experience working with those students, and he loved it so much, he pursued a master’s degree from the University of Georgia to acquire his teaching certification. Mr. Malone has been with JCHS as a student teacher, a long-term substitute, and now, finally, a full-time teacher – and he is very grateful to get to work in and for this community.

Mr. Greg Maxwell has been married to his high school sweetheart, Delores, for 23 years. They have two children, Tara (19) and Caleb (17). His career began with a Bachelor's and Master's degree from Southern Polytechnic State University (a.k.a. Kennesaw State University). He worked in engineering, product development, logistics, and sales for over 12 years in the textile, industrial, military, recreational, and many other industries. He followed his mentor and a lifelong dream to work in education, paying forward and helping students as he was guided. His educational career has been 13 years, mainly in high school and some middle school. Most of that time, he taught CTAE courses before Work-Based Learning (WBL) at JCHS. This year, he graduated from Valdosta State University in Instructional Technology with Media Add-on (Ed.S.). His extensive career in the private and public sectors gives him a unique perspective to place and coach our WBL students through apprenticeship, internship, or cooperative programs. His passion for travel and the great outdoors rounds out his hobbies and extracurricular time.
