IMPACT Teacher of the Month
Jackson County High School proudly presents the IMPACT Teacher of the Month Award to Ms. Emily Wangenheim.
Her colleagues describe an educator who fosters a supportive, encouraging learning culture where students feel safe, respected, and heard. One colleague shared observing students “run up to Ms. Wangenheim squealing in delight,” a memorable testament to the positive influence she has earned through daily care and connection. Ms. Wangenheim pairs high expectations with empathy, actively listening and responding to student needs with thoughtful support.
Students affirm that she positively impacts their school experience through her honesty, insight, humor, and the warmth she brings to the classroom. They emphasized that her learning space is one where confidence develops and students feel valued beyond academic requirements.
We congratulate Ms. Wangenheim on this deserved honor and express our gratitude for the difference she makes each day at Jackson County High School.

Work-Based Learning Spotlight
JCHS senior Jessica Hughes is completing the CTAE Teaching as a Profession pathway this year under the guidance of Mrs. Kirma Johnson. With a clear passion for education, Jessica is confident that teaching is the career she wants to pursue.
Through the Work-Based Learning program, Jessica is gaining hands-on experience at North Jackson Elementary School in Mrs. Amy Long’s second-grade classroom. Under Mrs. Long’s mentorship, she is learning valuable behavior management skills, instructional planning strategies, and how to successfully lead classroom lessons.
Jessica currently assists students with Phonics instruction in whole-group settings, small groups, and individualized one-on-one sessions, giving her a well-rounded introduction to the responsibilities of a future educator.
