JCHS will observe Fall Break October 8–13. We hope our Panther students, families, faculty, and staff enjoy a safe and relaxing break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready to finish the semester strong!
Juniors & Seniors: Register for Assessment Day by Wednesday, September 30th
Juniors & Seniors: Register for Assessment Day by Wednesday, September 30th
National Assessment Administration Day will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Assessment Day provides students with the opportunity to take the PSAT or ACT during the school day.
Juniors (11th graders) may register to take the PSAT or ACT, and seniors (12th graders) may register to take the ACT. Registration is due by Wednesday, September 30th.
Juniors and seniors who do not register for an assessment will be expected to participate in virtual learning from home and will not report to campus on October 21. Student assignments will be released as Assessment Day approaches.
Freshmen and sophomores (9th and 10th graders) are automatically registered to take the PSAT on campus on October 21. No registration is required, and they will not have a virtual learning option.

JCHS is proud to celebrate one of our Healthcare Work-Based Learning students, Alyssa Hanfman, who is gaining valuable hands-on experience through an internship at Milestone Pediatric Therapy Services.
This opportunity allows Alyssa to see firsthand how healthcare professionals support children and families while developing important workplace skills such as communication, professionalism, teamwork, and patient interaction.
She is gaining experience that goes beyond the classroom and is helping connect her education to a potential career in healthcare. We are proud to see her take initiative, prepare professionally, and make the most of this incredible opportunity!

JCHS was excited to host our first CLAWS (Comprehensive Learning Assistance for Well-Being and Success) professional learning session of the year this week!
CLAWS gives our educators the opportunity to learn from one another by sharing practical strategies, fresh ideas, and their own areas of expertise. This week’s sessions included Finish Strong with Ms. Rebecca Crawford, Make It Stick with Ms. Heather Hamrick, Meeting Students Where They Are with Ms. Stephanie Langley, Voices at Work with Ms. Ansley Lowe and Ms. Danette O’Kelley, and Classroom Management with Ms. Beth Pitman and Ms. Johanna Hayes.
We are grateful for the talented educators who shared their knowledge and helped make this professional learning opportunity a success!

Over 60 JCHS juniors and seniors received words of wisdom from the office of UGA Admissions. Students learned application tips, including the dos and don'ts when it comes to writing a personal essay. For the class of 2027, the Early Action deadline is approaching quickly on October 15th. For additional application tips, check out Application Hints from UGA Admissions.
Seniors, keep an eye on the Panther Press and the Counseling Corner for upcoming college application support. Apply to college events will be held throughout the semester.

Students who are new to Dual Enrollment and interested in getting started are invited to attend one of the upcoming Dual Enrollment Information Sessions. These sessions will cover important information about the Dual Enrollment process, requirements, and next steps.

Mark your calendars for the JCHS Fall Festival Trunk or Treat on Tuesday, October 27 from 5:00–7:00 PM in the JCHS bus lanes!
Bring the family and join us for an evening of games, food, and trunk-or-treat fun with the JCHS community.
We’re also looking for groups, clubs, teams, staff, and community members to help make the evening extra special by decorating a trunk and handing out treats. If you’d like to participate, please sign up by October 9.

AP Exam registration is now open for students enrolled in Fall and Full-Year AP courses.
Important Dates:
November 1: Last day to register without a late fee
November 2–6: A $40 late fee will apply
November 6: Registration closes
Spring semester AP courses will register next semester.
How to Register
Log into myAP Classroom and join your AP Classroom using the code provided by your teacher.
Complete your registration and payment through Total Registration.
AP Exam Fee Waivers
Students who receive Free or Reduced Lunch may qualify for an AP Exam fee waiver. Be sure to indicate this during registration so eligibility can be verified.
Students taking their first STEM AP Exam in Math, Science, or Computer Science may also qualify for a fee waiver.
AP Student Perks!
Students who register will receive an AP highlighter and will be invited to a special event the week before AP Exams featuring food, prizes, and more!
AP Exam Cost: $107 per exam
No payment = No exam order.
