Work-Based Learning Spotlight
Jackson County High School students Georgia Bryant, a junior, and Olivia Allen, a senior, are making a difference at Heroes Elementary through the school system’s Work-Based Learning (WBL) program. Each day during their 4th block, Georgia and Olivia step out of the traditional classroom and into the afterschool program, helping young students with homework, activities, and daily routines.
The partnership between Jackson County Schools’ afterschool programs and the WBL program has been a success story for years. Elementary schools across the county benefit from energetic, responsible high school students, while WBL participants gain valuable hands-on experience working with children, building leadership skills, and exploring career interests.
