JCHS Band Prepares for LGPE
Our Jackson County High School concert programs had the incredible opportunity to work with Dr. Hayes Bunch, Band Director at Young Harris College, and retired Band Director Alison Hayes! Their expert feedback and guidance will help our students refine their performances as they prepare for their upcoming Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE). JaxCo Students Take Learning Beyond the Classroom!
Students from Ms. Harris, Ms. Townley, Ms. Sharpton, and Ms. Wilson’s classes had an exciting week filled with hands-on experiences. They got a behind-the-scenes look at JaxCo Nutrition, where they learned how to make loaded energy teas and meal replacement shakes as part of their Community-Based Instruction (CBI) field trips. These experiences help students explore local businesses, gain real-world skills, and discover potential career paths beyond high school. A huge thank you to JaxCo Nutrition and our incredible community for supporting hands-on learning!
Students also participated in the Special Olympics Bowling event, where they enjoyed friendly competition, supported their classmates, and demonstrated great sportsmanship. Way to go, Panthers!
Panther Pride at Special Olympics!
Our Jaxco students volunteered alongside others from across the district at today’s Special Olympics Bowling event, supporting and cheering on the incredible athletes who gave it their all on the lanes! Their kindness, leadership, and spirit of service made the day even more special. Panther Nation is a better place because of them—we truly have the best students anywhere!
Work-Based Learning Highlight
JCHS senior Andi Armstrong exemplifies the mission of Work-Based Learning. She took advantage of all available CTAE healthcare courses, specializing in Biotechnology. Her mentor, Mrs. Emily Gunderson, recognized Andi as a top student and recommended her for an internship at the University of Georgia’s Krahn Lab. Andi has been accepted to UGA, where she will begin studying chemistry this fall. With time and experience, she plans to pursue a career in either laboratory research or clinical work.
