Hands-On Learning: Bookstore Exploration & FFA Fun!
This week, students in Ms. Harris, Ms. Townley, Ms. Sharpton, and Ms. Wilson's classes had exciting hands-on learning experiences as part of their Community-Based Instruction (CBI) and FFA Week celebrations!
During their visit to the Barnes & Noble Bookstore in Athens, students explored the bookstore, practiced real-world skills, and discovered new books. They also compared the differences between a bookstore and a library, learning about purchasing vs. borrowing books, book organization, and the unique experiences each place offers.
Students also had a fantastic time celebrating FFA Week with a trip to the JCSS Petting Zoo! A big thank you to Empower’s Agriculture teachers and students for organizing such a fun and educational experience—our students loved meeting the animals!
Work-Based Learning Highlight
JCHS senior Elizabeth Helton participates in Work-Based Learning for two blocks each day and works at Jackson Pharmacy. She takes pride in her strong work ethic while maintaining a balanced life. In addition to her job, she is actively involved in chorus and theater and has taken CTAE Healthcare courses.
