Purpose: To offer after school academic support that provides additional reinforcement of skills needed for academic success. Support will be available for English, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
Dates Offered: Tuesday and Thursday from February 7th to May 11th
Time: 3:15-4:15
Beginning Week 2, we will offer Spanish on Thursdays only
How do I register my student? Please complete THIS FORM if you would like for your student to attend after school support for Week 2 (February 14th and 16th). The form will close on February 8th at 5:00PM for Week 2 for any student needing bus transportation (the form will remain open for students that can provide their own transportation). If a student needing bus transportation is NOT registered by the deadline, then BUS TRANSPORTATION WILL NOT BE PROVIDED.
Please note: Food will not be provided. If desired, please bring a snack from home.
For students enrolled in AP courses during 2nd Semester:
Registration for 2nd Semester AP exams is now available through Total Registration.
Students must be registered and paid in full on Total Registration by March 1, 2023 @ 3PM.

IMPORTANT EXAM NOTES
ALL EOC TESTING WILL OCCUR ON THE JCHS CAMPUS. Students testing for EOC exams that normally attend EMPOWER in the mornings will need to remain on the JCHS campus to take their exam.
NO early exams will be administered
NO check-outs are allowed during exams
If a student is absent for a scheduled exam, a zero will be entered in IC until the exam is made-up

FINAL EXAMS: EXEMPTION POLICY
In order to earn an exam exemption in a class, the student must have an A (weighted average) in the course.
A final exam does NOT include an EOC, EOPA, or other mandated assessment.

Car riders and students who drive may leave campus at 10:55
Lunch: 10:55-11:20 (all students) with a release to buses by 11:25
FINAL PUSH: The Georgia Parent Survey was developed to measure parent perceptions of school climate at your child’s school. Your opinion is very important to us. Your survey responses are confidential and will be combined with the survey responses of other parents at your child’s school to identify areas in need of improvement. Grade Reporting for Semester 2
The first grade reporting term (4.5 weeks) ended on February 3rd
4.5-weeks grades will be finalized by February 7th @ 3:30. Please check Infinite Campus to view 4.5-weeks grades.
Student academic goal setting will occur in Advisement the week of February 13th.

The Jackson County High School Winter Semi-Formal is Saturday, February 25th from 8:00-10:00 PM in the JCHS Main Gym. Below is some important information you will need to know if you are planning to attend:
TICKETS:

Pre-Sale ONLY (no tickets will be sold at the door)
Tickets will be on sale through School Pay until Thursday, February 23rd at 3:30 PM.
GUESTS: (must be in at least 9th grade and no older than 20 years old)
Guest forms are available in the main office and cafe at JCHS
Guest forms are due to Mrs. Armendariz in the front office by Wednesday, February 22nd at 3:00 PM.

The JCHS Chorus is selling Valentine's Candy Grams February 1-10 for $2 each. Purchase every morning at the fine arts concession stand or the grand staircase. Candy grams will be delivered in advisement on Feb. 14!
Have someone you'd like to show your appreciation for this Valentine's Day? The JCHS International Club will be selling REAL roses for $3 to be delivered by us on Valentine's Day. Rose will include a rose sleeve, a note, and a treat for your loved one! Sales will begin February 1st-13th in the café during lunches. See Mrs. Edwards in room 4229 if you have any questions.

Kellen Salom is named Jackson County High School's STAR Student!
Kellen earned the Star Student recognition for academic excellence and performance on the SAT. He selected Mr. Steven Bowles, math teacher at Jackson County High School, as his STAR Teacher.
Jackson County High School will be celebrating National School Counseling Week February 6–10, 2023. The 2023 theme is "School Counselors: Helping Students Dream Big." We would like to recognize our school counselors for the tremendous impact they have in helping students achieve their full potential. The counselors in our school provide comprehensive counseling programs designed to promote the academic success, career preparedness, and social/emotional growth necessary for students to become successful now and to realize their dreams for the future. Last weekend, Gus Weed performed with the Georgia All State Jazz Band in Athens, Georgia. Gus was one of two percussionists that were selected to play from the state of Georgia. His conductor, Michele Fernández, is an active guest clinician/conductor, adjudicator, instrumental music composer and performer.
The JCHS Key Club donated Blessing Bags for 100 foster children in Jackson County! Bags will be distributed through our partnership with Fostering Hope Clothes Closet.
Students and staff joined the Pink-Out on Friday, February 3rd in support of Coach Heather Backer from Gum Springs Elementary!
JCHS senior, Charlee Reynolds has morning WBL blocks working at Starbucks as a Barista in the Kroger Jefferson location. When Charlee graduates, she will attend Toccoa Falls to major in Business and minor in Marketing.

SOCCER VISITS UNG-DAHLONEGA
Both soccer teams had a remarkable experience at the University of North Georgia this weekend. This was the fifth consecutive year that the teams have done a college visit as a group. The teams had a tour of the athletic facilities, a Q&A session with the Nighthawks coaching staff, and played games at the UNG soccer stadium.

The 2023-2024 JCSS Program of Study is available. The Jackson County School System has provided the JCSS Program of Study as a planning guide for our families and students to use. The JCSS Program of Study shows the connection between class work and future success, pointing out the relevance of academic learning in the classroom.
