7 Mindset Heroes: Attitude of Gratitude

Let's take a moment to applaud the incredible individuals who embody the Attitude of Gratitude principle at Jackson County High School. Congratulations to Tray Turner and Mrs. Nessa Hoppe, our 7 Mindset Heroes!

Tray's positivity radiates through the halls of our school each day. His unwavering smile and willingness to lend a helping hand make him a true beacon of light for his peers. Whether it's guiding someone through a tricky assignment or offering support during challenging times, Tray's resilient spirit inspires us all. Instead of dwelling on setbacks, he channels his determination to try again, setting a remarkable example of resilience and perseverance.

Mrs. Hoppe's commitment to fostering positive relationships with her students sets her apart as an exceptional educator. She brings mindfulness and presence into her classroom, ensuring that each student feels valued and supported. Mrs. Hoppe's colleagues state that her generosity of time and infectious positivity create an environment where everyone feels appreciated and motivated to excel.

Tray Turner and Mrs. Nessa Hoppe, your dedication to cultivating gratitude and kindness enriches our school community immeasurably. Thank you for your inspiring contributions, and congratulations once again on this well-deserved recognition!

Georgia Department of Education Student Chef Competition

Jackson County High School students in Mrs. Brooke Curtis’ Food Science courses competed at the beginning of the semester to determine the top two recipes to be entered into the Georgia Department of Education Student Chef Competition.

The winners for Mrs. Curtis’ second-period Food Science class were Amari Taylor, Melanie Gomez, Kyan Rivera, and Hannah Farley with their Chicken Pasta Salad recipe. The winners for Mrs. Curtis’ third-period Food Science class were Dane Trimble, Maddox Roberts, and Sierra Young with their Spicy Chicken Nacho recipe.

The team of Amari Taylor, Melanie Gomez, Kyan Rivera, and Hannah Farley have been selected to advance to the second phase of the Georgia Department of Education School Nutrition Division Student Chef Competition. During this phase, judges will visit  Jackson County High School and observe student recipe preparations in the kitchen, taste their recipe, interview the team and judge for the overall state winner. The top recipe in the state will have the opportunity to represent Georgia at the Southeastern Regional competition at Nashville State Community College in Antioch, Tenn.

Special thank you to JCSS School Food Nutrition Director Taylor Blake for the assistance!

 YGA School Level Winners

We are excited to announce the outstanding literary talents from JCHS whose works have secured victory in the school-level Young Georgia Authors competition and will now advance to the county competition. Their literary pieces not only demonstrate exceptional creativity and skill but also reflect the depth of talent within Jackson County High School. We wish Maddie, Julia, Camila, and Brielle the best of luck as they progress to the county competition, where we have no doubt they will continue to shine brightly.

 Photo Project

Love Jaxco.mp4

This mini photo project was an opportunity for students in Mrs. Anderson's photography classes at Jackson County High School to interact and connect with the larger school community. They created this collection of photos to remind everyone about the importance of acknowledging what and who we all love. For this project, students went around the school capturing as many different photos of faculty, staff, and students as possible. Each photo is shown with the person's hand outstretched, with a simple word or phrase written to show what or who they love. We hope you enjoy it!
