After a nerve-racking audition and a nomination from their choral director, Shannon Green, students from the JCHS Chorus participated in District 14 Honor Chorus on Oct. 28-29. This prestigious event, held at Brenau University, consisted of choral rehearsals with clinicians from around the state of Georgia, and culminated in a wonderful choral concert. By participating in this event, students had the opportunity to make beautiful music with other students from District 14, and network with peers and clinicians. The JCHS students who attended this event were: Lilian Connor, (11th) Berkley Hoffman (12th), Rebekah Lor (9th), Montserrat Magno (10th), Michelle Moua (12th), Lillian Rose Shreve (10th), and Gracelyn Watkins (10th).

On Wednesday, JCHS Wind Ensemble percussion section had a session with composer Jeff Barudin.  He is the composer of the music they will be performing at the PASIC Percussion Competition.  They will use Dr. Barudin's feedback to help improve their performance!

For el Día de los Muertos, Mrs. Chase's students from Mexico dressed in traditional make-up and taught the rest of the class all about the holiday. The students focused on the different symbols that are present during the holiday. Afterwards, all of the students in the class rotated through stations, creating the different objects that cover a typical "ofrenda". Students created papel picado (decorative paper), calaveras (skulls), alebrijes (mythical creatures) and cempasuchiles (marigolds).  The class "ofrenda" is located outside of Mrs. Chase's classroom on upstairs B Hall.

The Key Club had their second campus clean-up during their meeting on November 2nd! Thank you for helping to keep our campus beautiful!

Key Club would like to thank their amazing sponsors for the 2022-2023 school year! They were able to conduct several service projects for the JC community thanks to their generous support! Please view the image carousel below for sponsors.

RECENT COLLEGE COMMITMENTS

FOOTBALL SEASON ENDS

Varsity Football season ended Friday night at Gainesville High School.  The Panthers fought hard, but lost the game.

CROSS COUNTRY UPDATE

Girls Cross Country ran at the Class 6A State Championships on Saturday in Carrollton.   The team finished 16th in the State, with Sophomore Erin O'Brien finishing 14th overall.

CHEER PERFORMS WELL AT SECTIONALS

Our Competition Cheer squad travelled to Houston County on Saturday for State Sectionals. Despite their highest score of the year and scoring 24 points higher than last years sectional, they came up just short of the Top 16 which would have qualified for the State Finals.  It was a great year!

SWIM TEAM OPENS THEIR SEASON

Panther Swim and Dive travelled to Habersham this weekend for their season opening meet, and it was a success.  The boys team finished 3rd overall out of 9 teams.  Desi Quiles qualified for state in two separate events.

BASKETBALL AND WRESTLING BEGIN THIS WEEK

Panther Basketball and Panther Wrestling seasons start THIS WEEK!  Panther Basketball hosts East Jackson on Tuesday night for a scrimmage.  Girls Wrestling travels to Alexander on Saturday, while the boys host the "Panther Scramble" at home Saturday.
