EXAM EXEMPTION POLICY
High school seniors with an A average in the course will be exempt from the final exam for that course. Students in grades 9-11 may not exempt final exams.
A final exam does NOT include an EOC, EOPA, or other mandated test.
Students and parents/guardians will be notified in advance if a student is exempt from a final exam.

Washington Youth Tour 2024
Exciting news! Jackson EMC is currently accepting applications for the annual Washington Youth Tour, an incredible opportunity you won't want to miss. UGA Young Scholars Program
The Young Scholars Program at the University of Georgia is a paid, five-week summer internship opportunity for high school students interested in agricultural, food, and environmental sciences. JCSS Career Fair
The Jackson County School System will be hosting a Career Fair on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Empower College and Career Center. Positions available include: K-12 Teachers, Special Education Teachers, Paraprofessionals, School Food Nutrition, Transportation, Custodial, Student Support Services and Facilities and Maintenance!

Semester 1 EOC Testing and Final Exams
Jackson County High School will conclude the first semester next week with final exams and early release on Tuesday and Wednesday. Take a moment to review the schedule and prepare accordingly. Good luck to all students!

Important Reminders:
Early Exams: Please note that no early exams will be administered, so ensure you are present on the scheduled exam days.
Check-Out Policy: During exam periods, no check-outs will be allowed. Please plan accordingly.
Absences: If a student is absent for a scheduled exam, a grade of zero will be entered into the Infinite Campus system until the exam is made up.
Final Exam Exemption: High school seniors with a weighted A average in the course will be exempt from the final exam for that course. Students in grades 9-11 may not exempt final exams. Students and parents/guardians will be notified in advance if a student is exempt from a final exam.
Chromebooks: Students should bring their fully charged Chromebooks for all testing.

In two unforgettable evenings, Jaxco Dance cast a spell on the audience with their enchanting performance of "Most Wonderful Time of the Year" at the Jackson County High School Auditorium. The air was filled with festive cheer as the talented dancers took the stage, delivering a breathtaking experience that left hearts aglow. Thanks to all the dancers, faculty, staff, and Mrs. Ware for their dedicated efforts in making this performance truly remarkable!
Visual Arts Showcase
The talents of Jackson County High School's budding artists took center stage at the Visual Arts Showcase held on Thursday, December 14th. The event was a stunning celebration of creativity and passion, showcasing the incredible artwork crafted by the school's talented students. Kudos to the students, art teachers, and everyone involved in making the Visual Arts Showcase a resounding success!

JCHS Senior, Maegan Brownlee participates in first block Work-Based Learning at North Jackson Elementary School as a teaching apprentice. For today’s small group lesson they read a book and made a bracelets with colored beads based on the story characters. Thanks to Principal Johnson and Mrs. Satterfield (Pre-K) for their support of our WBL students.

Your formal (tux or black drape) photo for the yearbook must be taken by Cady Studios. Your senior photos must be taken by December 15th to appear in the yearbook.
You may submit a casual photo by an outside photographer. If you are going to use a casual photo from your Cady shoot, you DO NOT need to upload your photo. If you would like to use a casual photo from an outside photographer, please upload your image at this link.
Be sure to type the student's first name, last name, and school email in the appropriate boxes to ensure your photo is placed in the yearbook. Then click 'Upload Portrait'. Uploading your image is the ONLY way to submit a casual photo. Please DO NOT email them to Mrs. Pitman or the yearbook staff. You MUST upload your photo by December 15th.

Jackson County Community Outreach Scholarship Opportunities
Each year the JCCO awards SCHOLARSHIPS to deserving Jackson County high school students planning to attend college and technical schools. Presently the Jackson County Community Outreach with the help of SPONSORS and ENDOWMENT fund has given scholarships totaling $300,000.00 since 1998. Each year JCCO provides an ever growing amount of additional scholarships to Jackson County students.
Here are some things to remember about the application process and this included with each application:
Applications must be typed - handwritten applications will not be accepted.
A letter of recommendation must be included. This can be from a Teacher, Counselor, Pastor, Employer, or other unrelated adult.
A copy of your official acceptance letter to college. If this is not included, your scholarship application will not be accepted.
Please return your complete application packet to your counselor by February 29, 2024. Interviews will be scheduled for the week of March 25th You will be contacted by your counselor and a member of the JCCO Scholarship committee via the email address you provide.
Winners will be announced at your school’s Honors Night and scholarship checks will be sent to your college in early summer.

Congratulations on reaching this milestone in your academic journey! As you prepare to conclude your studies in December, here are some important reminders to ensure a smooth transition:
Chromebook and Charger Return: Please remember to turn in your Chromebook and charger to the Technology Office located in the Library Learning Commons after your last final exam.
Return Library Books and Clear Cafeteria Charges: Please ensure that you return any library books you have borrowed and settle any outstanding cafeteria charges.
Backup Your School Google Account: To retain access to your important school-related documents and emails, it's crucial to back up your school's Google account to a personal Google account. To assist you with this process, please visit the following link for directions on using Google Takeout.
Stay Informed about Senior Activities: If you plan to participate in upcoming Senior activities, including May's graduation, it's essential to stay informed. Please read the weekly Senior section of the Panther Press for all important updates and announcements. A link to the Panther Press can be found on the JCHS website.

IT'S A GREAT DAY TO BE A PANTHER!

GREAT WEEK FOR PANTHER WRESTLING
Boys wrestling travelled to the prestigious Bradley Invitational in Tennessee this weekend, and had a strong showing. The team finished 6th out of 37 schools, while several individuals placed. Xavier Cepican finished as the champion of his weight class.
BASKETBALL SWEEPS EAST, BOYS WIN 3 IN A ROW
On Tuesday night at East Jackson, our Panthers swept the night! The JV boys started the night with a 14 point victory over the Eagles, and the varsity girls and varsity boys finished the night with two wins of their own.
The varsity girls lost a heartbreaker against Franklin County on Friday.
The varsity boys finished the week with wins over Franklin County and Oconee County.
BOYS SWIM CONTINUES TO BREAK RECORDS
Panther swim took to the pool at UGA this weekend, and again had a relay qualify for the STATE meet. Zachary Davison, Gabe Gusek, Sam Bilyashevych and Ryland Sheppard qualified in the 400m relay. This marked the first 400m of any event that our program has sent a qualifier to STATE!
