AP Exam Registration

For students enrolled in AP courses, registration for 1st Semester AP exams is now available through Total Registration. Parents and students can locate the AP testing exam schedule, and link to the Total Registration website at our JCHS AP webpage.
Students must be registered and paid in full on Total Registration by November 1st.
IB Exam Registration

Current IB course and diploma candidates should register for exams by October 10th.

EXAM EXEMPTION POLICY
High school seniors with an A average in the course will be exempt from the final exam for that course. Students in grades 9-11 may not exempt final exams.
A final exam does NOT include an EOC, EOPA, or other mandated test.
Students and parents/guardians will be notified in advance if a student is exempt from a final exam.
EARLY RELEASE PROCEDURES: December 19th & 20th
Car riders and students who drive may leave campus at 10:55
Lunch: 10:55-11:20 (all students) with a release to buses by 11:25

Fall Break
Jackson County Schools will be on Fall Break Thursday, October 12- Monday, October 16th. We will see you back at school on Tuesday, October 17th.
Jackson County High School has been recognized as an AP Bronze Level Honor Roll School for developing an Advanced Placement program that creates a college-going culture and gives students opportunities to earn college credit and to maximize their college outcomes. JCHS also received the AP Access Award for ensuring AP coursework is equally available to students no matter their backgrounds.

Night Out With The Hawks
The Jackson County School System is teaming up with the Atlanta Hawks for a Night Out With The Hawks on Saturday, January 13, 2024! The Hawks will host the Washington Wizards! Discounted tickets are available, and each ticket comes with a $10 concession stand credit. A portion of each ticket sale goes back to our school system! Band Concert
Mark your calendars! Our Fall Band Concert is scheduled for Tuesday, October 10th, at 7:00 pm, taking place in the JCHS auditorium. The evening will kick off with a captivating performance by the Percussion Ensemble, followed by the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble. It's a musical event you won't want to miss!

Plastic Challenge
Bring in a bag of plastic films that matches your height. Tag it to JCHS & email your pictures to npeterson@jcss.us to be tagged on JCHS social media sites.
The October Plastic Challenge Begins! Collect plastic FILMS (bags, ziplocks, etc.) and turn in to your advisement teacher by Tuesday, 10/24 to win an Ice Cream Sundae Party!
Basketball Tryouts

POSTER CONTEST
The centerpiece of National School Bus Safety Week is the Poster Contest. We are looking for artwork that depicts school bus safety-related themes and encourages and promotes school bus safety. The winning posters are used to promote safer school transportation for everyone.
The 2023-24 National School Bus Safety Week Poster Contest theme: Driving Safely Into the Future
JCHS will be selecting 5 posters to send to the district competition.
The deadline to submit is February 19, 2024.
Posters can be submitted to the JCHS Library Learning Commons.

Empower Night
JCHS National Assessment Administration Day, October 18, 2023 (Wednesday)
Date: Wednesday, October 18, 2023
Location and Schedule: Students will be testing at both Jackson County High School and the Empower College and Career Center. To determine your assessment location and schedule, please review the attached chart carefully.
Transportation: Bus transportation will be provided to and from the Empower College and Career Center, ensuring that all students can easily access their designated assessment location.
Technology Requirements: All assessments will be conducted online. Therefore, it is crucial that all students bring their fully charged Chromebooks to ensure a smooth testing experience.
PSAT Calculator Policy: You're allowed to use a calculator on all questions in the Math section. The digital test platform itself has a built-in graphing calculator that you can use if you wish, or you can use your own approved calculator. We recommend that you try out both options during your practice. JCHS will NOT provide hand held calculators.
ACT Calculator Policy: Examinees may use any 4-function, scientific, or graphing calculator, as long as it is not on the prohibited list and it is modified. Examinees are encouraged to use a familiar calculator, but all problems may be solved without a calculator. Calculators may only be used on the mathematics test. JCHS will NOT provide hand held calculators.
September Students and Teachers of the Month
During the month of September, our Panther teachers nominated each other for Teacher of the Month from 8 different departments. Each of those 8 teachers then selected 1 student as Student of the Month from that Department. At this time, we would like to announce our Teacher and Students of the Month for the Month of September.
Once again, a huge Panther congratulations to all of these teachers and students who are just a few of the many reasons we are #ProudtobeJC !

VOLLEYBALL HONORS ROLL IN
VOLLEYBALL FINISHES RUNNERS UP, STATE TOURNAMENT UP NEXT
Advancing to the Region championship for three consecutive years is an amazing feat, and our Lady Panthers did that this season!
We fell in the Championship in an intense 5 set battle. Next, we will host the first round of the Class AAAAAA State Tournament NEXT WEEK vs. an opponent to be determined later.
FOOTBALL WINS BIG OVER SHILOH
Friday night at Panther Stadium, the Jackson County Football team dominated the Shiloh Generals, and posted a 37-6 Region win.
Our Panthers have a week off to recover and prepare for a BIG matchup with Lanier in two weeks.
SOFTBALL LOOKS TO FINISH STRONG
Senior Night was a success this week, with an 18-0 win over Gainesville.
Our Panthers sit in 3rd Place in Region 8-AAAAAA with a 5th consecutive state playoff appearance looking likely.
FLAG FOOTBALL OPENS SEASON THIS WEEK
On Monday, our Flag Football Teams will debut at home vs. East Jackson! The JV team will take the field at 6:30 with the varsity to follow.
Thursday, the varsity squad will travel to Oconee County to play the Warriors and Seckinger. Get out and support this new sport!
CROSS COUNTRY DOES WELL AT JEFFERSON INVITATIONAL
Our Cross Country teams took on the Jefferson Invitational and it was filled with peak performances.
Top 20 finishes by Erin O'Brien, Loralai Eager, and Morgan Eldridge led the girls to a 2nd Place team score. Top 10 finishers Kasen Baker and Julia Crowthers led the JV Girls to a 3rd Place team score.
Every guy on our boys squad set personal records, leading to the fastest team average in the past 5 seasons.
