End of 1st Semester Grades Reported
Purpose: To offer after school academic support that provides additional reinforcement of skills needed for academic success. Support will be available for English, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
Dates Offered: Tuesday and Thursday from September 20th to December 8th
Time: 3:15-4:15
How do I register my student? Please complete THIS FORM if you would like for your student to attend after school support for Week 9 (November 28-December 2). The form will close on November 16th at 5:00PM for Week 9 (the form will remain open for students that can provide their own transportation). If a student needing bus transportation is NOT registered by the deadline, then BUS TRANSPORTATION WILL NOT BE PROVIDED.
Please note: Food will not be provided. If desired, please bring a snack from home.

IMPORTANT EXAM NOTES
ALL EOC TESTING WILL OCCUR ON THE JCHS CAMPUS. Students testing for EOC exams that normally attend EMPOWER in the mornings will need to remain on the JCHS campus to take their exam.
NO early exams will be administered
NO check-outs are allowed during exams
All AP and IB exams are required to be administered in the Spring. List of AP Exam Dates and List of IB Exam Dates
FINAL EXAMS: EXEMPTION POLICY
In order to earn an exam exemption in a class, the student must have an A (weighted average) in the course.
A final exam does NOT include an EOC, EOPA, or other mandated test.
Students and parents/guardians will be notified in advance if a student is exempt from a final exam.
EARLY RELEASE PROCEDURES: December 19th and 20th
Car riders and students who drive may leave campus at 10:55
Lunch: 10:55-11:20 (all students) with a release to buses at 11:20

Thanksgiving Break: Thanksgiving break will begin for students on Friday, November 18th! Our building will be closed Monday, November 21st, and will reopen Monday, November 28th.

Certificate of Enrollment: Students obtaining their learner's permit or driver's license over the Thanksgiving Break, should request the Certificate of School Enrollment and/or ADAP Certificate before Wednesday, November 16th. Also, be sure you are picking up your requested certificates in the front office the next day after 1PM. Questions can be directed to Leann Armendariz at larmendariz@jcss.us.
The JCHS International Club is hosting the collection of shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child from October 31st - November 15th! The shoeboxes are filled with school supplies, toys, toiletry, etc for children all over the world! Watch this video to learn how to pack the shoeboxes

The JCHS Wind Ensemble Percussion competed on Friday at the PASIC Concert Percussion Chamber Ensemble competition in Indianapolis! Our percussionists competed on the national scene and received 4th of 10 with nationally and internationally recognized adjudicators! Way to go!
What is PASIC? The Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) is one of the largest drum and percussion events in the world. Featuring concerts, clinics, panels and presentations given by the finest artists from all over the world, PASIC 2022 will showcase all areas of percussion — drum set, marching, keyboard, symphonic, world, recreational, education, music technology, new music, and health & wellness.
JCHS WBL senior, Desi Quiles works at Fergusons On The Square and Marble Slab to spilt her work experience and hours while managing her classes. Desi plans to attend Emmanuel College on a swimming scholarship to study in the areas of psychology, social work, or counseling

The JCHS International Club's meeting focused on Germany this month! They introduced the Duck Olympics and played a variety of games to celebrate Germany's duck holiday.
We are so excited to announce this year's Jackson County High School Governor's Honors Program Nominees, advancing to the next round of the GHP competition!
Rotary Student of the Month: Congratulations to Madison Placencia – November's Rotary Student of the Month for Jackson County High School! Ansley chose Mrs. Heather Hamrick as her most influential teacher.
Congratulations to Brooke Curtis, FACS Teacher from Jackson County High School for being granted $4,900 for multiple departments within the school and extending out into the community. Please take a moment and read the official press release below.
Hali Chase, JCHS Spanish Teacher, was a guest speaker at the Enspire Conference 2022 in Cleveland, Ohio last weekend. The conference highlights educators that promote entrepreneurship in their students. She participated in a live recording of the Next Level Teaching Podcast with one of the conference’s keynote speakers, Jeremy Anderson. Jeremy travels the world promoting “next-level living” among educators and students. During the podcast, Jeremy, Dr. Hammond (a psychologist specializing in children’s health), and Chase counseled educators on the importance of educators’ mental health, students’ mental health, and promoting positive relationships in the classroom.
We have SO MANY amazing opportunities and events occurring at JCHS. The presentation below is a "one-stop-shop" to learn about the "happenings" at JCHS. We will house all of our digital flyers in this section of the Panther Press each week. Also, the digital flyers are displayed throughout the school on our Visix boards.
RECENT COLLEGE COMMITMENTS
BASKETBALL SCRIMMAGE VS. EAST
Girls and Boys basketball got a chance to play a live scrimmage game this week against East Jackson. The games were very productive and will help our Panthers prepare for the regular season, which begins this week.
WRESTLING OPENS THEIR SEASON
Boys Wrestling opened their season at home, hosting 14 schools in the PANTHER SCRAMBLE. After over 250 varsity matches, the Panthers came out as CHAMPIONS of the scramble. Overall as a program on Saturday:
Varsity Panthers: 5 CHAMPIONS & 3 runner ups! Panther Scramble CHAMPIONS
Lady Panthers: 3 of our 5 ladies went undefeated on the day!
JV Panthers: 4 CHAMPIONS & 7 runner-ups!
Middle school panthers: 5-0 on the day. Burnt Mountain Classic CHAMPIONS
SWIM CATS UPDATE
Panther Swim and Dive travelled to Frances Meadows in Gainesville for the North Hall Invitational.
ALL STATE ALL STAR VOLLEYBALL GAME
Sophomore Paisley Gillespie and Junior Sydney McCutcheon played in the GACA All State Volleyball game for underclassmen. They are the first two Panthers ever to receive the honor of being selected for this game.

Senior Social Studies classes will be applying to college next week in the Staff Development Room. Seniors who do not have a Social Studies class at JCHS this semester can come to the Staff Development Room on Thursday, November 17th to apply to Colleges.
