Activity Description
Pre-task
Before beginning with the activity, the teacher are going to give clear instructions on how to use the application. The app Arloppa has been downloaded to their padlets and the children gets divided into groups of around 4 people per group. Within the groups, they get to explore the app together with the teacher giving them instructions on how to pick an animal, how to take photos and where the pictures gets saved. Afterwards, the teacher will show them the worksheet that they will carry during the activity. They read the sentences together and the teacher makes sure that everyone understands the texts and the words in english. Since they have worked with creating stories before, the teacher reminds them about the "Story Mountain" and that they are going to take a suitable picture for each part of the story.
The teacher also gives the students different roles for the group work. The roles that they will be given is the; leader, reader, scribe and one who has the responsibility to remind the group of speaking english. The students will take turns on being the photographer. The other students should be in the picture.
To encourage the students to speak in their target language, the teacher also tells them that there is a possibility for them to get a "golden ticket", if they are speaking english.
Main-task
Now it is time for the main task and the students will together with their groups go outside to take the pictures. They have the worksheet and the vocabulary list with them and during the activity. They take the pictures and fill in the empty spaces in the worksheet to create their story. They are supposed to take five suitable pictures for each part of the story. When they are taking the pictures, interacting with animals in the app, they will practice the preposition words. To encourage the students to speak English, the teacher will walk around, listen to them and also hand out golden tickets. There will also be one person in the group that has the role of reminding her/his member to speak english during the activity.
After-task
For the after task, each group will have to make an E-book with the pictures and the story that they have written. For each page there will one picture with the sentences connected to it. If the student want to, they can add extra sentences to their story, otherwise they can use the ones they have.
Later the teacher will show the class all of the books made by the group and they can compare their stories. The groups will also have to evaluate one other groups book. The teacher will also hold a discussion where the students can give their oppinions on the project itself; what they liked, what they have learned etc.
