Preparation
The teacher needs to prepare the materials above.
Warm-up
An extract from The Simpsons is going to be watched with the students. Before watching the video, the learners will be asked 'Watch the video and tell me which show this is!'. Then, to introduce the characters, students will also be shown pictures of the famous ones from the show.
While-activity: Listening
Students are going to listen to a dialogue between two kids who talk about the appearance and personality of the characters in The Simpsons. For the first listening, they will tell what the speakers are talking about. For the second listening, they will fill in the blanks for what they hear.
Mini-lecture
This part will cover some simple adjectives for personality and physical appearance by using the statements from the recording, along with visuals from The Simpsons show.
Post-activity: Information Gap
This activity aims to enable students to practice the personality and appearance adjectives that have been covered as part of this lesson. In order to achieve this, students will be provided with information gap tables. These tables will include some information about the characters from The Simpsons. However, the information for character A will be missing in student B's table, and vice versa for student A. Therefore, in pairs, students will be asked to fill in the missing information in their table by asking questions to each other.
Revision Game
Blooket game will be played in this session in order to revise the lesson content.
Homework
Students will be asked to prepare a poster by describing the appearance and personality of their favorite celebrity (e.g. cartoon character, singer, actor).
