Aina Ferrero, Ainhoa Iglesias i Alba Reverte
SHORT DESCRIPTION
The activity is a game played in pairs where each student will choose the image of a classmate, and their partner will try to guess who it is by asking questions about the person’s appearance and character, which will later lead to the writing of a prompt in order to achieve the creation of a drawing with the app “AdobeFirefly”.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES (SWBATs)
To describe a classmate using adjectives in simple sentences.
To answer and ask questions using adjectives about the appearance of someone and their interests.
To write down a prompt based on a dialogue between students.
To create a visual representation of a classmate using Adobe Firefly.
PREPARATION FOR THE APP TASK CYCLE (BEFORE THE LESSON), INCLUDE AN ESTIMATE OF TIME NEEDED FOR PREP, AND WHETHER IN-CLASS OR BEFORE
Before implementing the lesson, ensure that all devices are connected to the internet and that the Adobe Firefly Image app is accessible on each one, either through the installed app or directly via the website (with an account already logged in). It wouldn’t take longer than 20–30 minutes.
In previous sessions, students will have become familiar with the technology with the teacher’s guidance to create a self-portrait - this activity, as well as the individual writing task of a self-description, is set to last for a whole class session, therefore the durations is up to 2 hours - and they will have had to revise adjectives and simple sentence structures to prepare for writing basic descriptions throughout the learning situation (so we would invest time on it in as many lessons as it would take).

Assessment.
Equipment (smartphones, cameras, tablet, etc.)
The students will need tablets or computers with Adobe Firefly Image installed/opened.
Additional materials needed (don't leave anything out!)
The additional materials required for the session are the student self-portraits from the previous session, as it is the image children will compare their final creations done with the app in order to check if they have achieved a very similar character.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF EACH PHASE OF TASK CYCLE (INCLUDE TIME ESTIMATES FOR EACH STAGE)
Pre-task:
Students will have worked on the description structure and adjectives they can use regarding personal appearance in several sessions through multimodal activities (many hours). Later on, they will have to write a self-description of how they look/how they see themselves with a trait related to a hobby or an object, for instance a trumpet if they play it (1 hour/ a session).
In another session, the teacher will introduce the website and will prepare an activity in pairs. Using the previously written description, each pair will create their own prompt using a tablet or a computer. All these animated images of the class’ members will be gathered and used in further activities.
Main task:
For this activity, students will be grouped in pairs or threes (only if needed). Each student will think of one classmate, and their partner(s) will have to guess who they are thinking of. To do this, students will write a prompt on the Adobe Firefly website based on the answers to a series of questions regarding the unknown character. The generated image should resemble the student described. The students will have language support materials to help develop this activity, for instance structures of questions to ask and vocabulary for descriptions.
Post-task:
In pairs, they will share their images created with Adobe Firefly and will have to compare them with the original to the partner. Afterwards, with the whole class, the teacher will display all the images created with the app and make a reflection on the main task. What vocabulary was used? How did students describe themselves? Do the images resemble the children in real life? Finally, the teacher will provide feedback on the main task and highlight the effective language used in it by the children. Regarding children’s performance, they will be required to complete a self-assessment sheet.
EXAMPLES OF MATERIALS AND APPS IN USE
ASSESSMENT
Formative Assessment: Teacher-led and Student-led
ATTENTION TO DIVERSITY
We would provide students who need it printed language support with vocabulary and structures to start the conversation as scaffolding.
IMPROVEMENT BASED ON FEEDBACK
We noticed while doing the activity that the Adobe Firefly needed some key vocabulary to create an accurate image of a child. If they didn't use this type of specific information, the image didn't turn the way it is expected.
That's why we think we would create some prompts for writing in the app so it would produce more accurate responses from the AI. Also, It would help to guide students through that part of the activity because it felt less structured than other parts of the activity.
To make it easier for players, we would give instructions on how to write the prompt as a whole text by showing some examples and working it deeper in previous sessions.
