Activity instructions
Pre-task: They will get familiar with the immersion. They will do the tutorial to get to know how to pick up things, move around, how to navigate etc. Afterwards, they will go to the fast-food restaurant room, where they will be able to explore the room and how to interact with the objects. The students have worked with the vocabulary of ordering food before.
During: Our activity is going to take place in a fast-food restaurant where the students will have to both order and make the food. They will be working in groups of three, where one student is going to place the order and the other two will have to make it. The one ordering the food will interact with the two persons behind the desk and these two will have to interact with each other while making the food. The main focus of the activity is the ability to understand, give and follow instructions, negotiate when making the food (for example "If I make the hamburger, can you pour the soda") and interact with each other.
Post-task: The students will fill in a "Restaurant Costumer Survey" after the activity. This will done outside the VR platform. They will write about their experience in general. They will write about what they ordered, rate the restaurant, the staff etc.

We are going to go to a fast food restaurant today where you will be working in groups of three. One of you will be very hungry and will therefore order some food! The other two will be the chefs, preparing and making the food. If you want some inspiration you can use the flashcards otherwise just order your favorite food and enjoy!
Pay attention to instructions or other tools to help you inside the virtual reality!"
Materials for students:
This fast food menu together with sentence starters will be put in Immerse as scaffolding for when the students are ordering food and when they make hamburgers and serve food.
They will be provided with flashcards (with different types of food they can order), within the VR space. They are at a table in the middle of the room. This could be used as inspiration if needed.
The restaurant costumer service will be completed by the students after the VR experience.
-The "Restaurant costumer survey" could be used as a self-assessment. They will evaluate their performance and their experience of this activity.
-A teacher could also join the VR activity and listen to their language while they are doing the task. She/he could give some guidance to help them keep the discussion going and for them to develop their English. She/he could also assess in a formative way.
