6th grade (most between A1-A2, a few A2- B1)
We have been working on a cultural project in which students have learnt about the different countries across the world, as well as the traditions and customs of each country.
Students will be able to communicate in a virtual environment using their L2.
Students will be able to role-play in a real-context communicative situation.

Pre-Task: The teacher will present the materials for the VR activity, including the VR glasses and the VR remote control. They have previously worked with VR materials, so they will already know how it works. The teacher will tell them that in the next class they will be in a country, but before that, they need to get there. In order to get to that country, they need to go to the airport and take a plane, and that’s exactly what they will do in the session. There will be two main activities in this VR session, the first one where they will have to go through security to check their bags, and the second one, where they will have to guess the different countries based on the statements given.
During:
Security check activity: One student from the pair will be the security and the other person will be the one travelling. In this activity, they have to say what they would bring in their suitcases. The security person will have to ask them if they are carrying any liquids, sharp objects, etc. They will then change roles.
Flag activity: The teacher divides the students into pairs. One student is A, the other student is B. Both get a sheet with seven flags and descriptions. One student is in the VR world and the other one has a sheet with 5 flags. The student with the flag sheet is asking a question with the facts given. The student in the VR world has to look at the flags and then give the answer, which country he/she thinks it is. Afterwards, the students will switch roles.
Post-Task: They will rate the service at the airport from 0 stars to 5 stars. After doing so, the teacher will lead a brainstorm in order for them to choose a country they want to visit in the next lesson. If there is no agreement, they will vote for the country and the teacher will count the votes, and they will go to the country that has the most votes.
Welcome to the airport! Where are you flying to?
As you would do in the real world, you have to go through Security Check first, but be prepared for the questions that the STAFF may ask you (use the language support to help you with the conversation).
After the control, if you get bored, you can investigate the parts of the airport, or use the flags game with a partner outside of the virtual world to distract yourselves before the flight.
Be prepared, because after the activity, you'll decide where to go, and then, get on the plane to your destination.
